i washed my car the other day and noticed all the swirl marks and haze and etchings everywhere and i decided its time to do somehting about it. watching some videos now on how to use the thing so i can rock out when it gets here.

Good choice. Did you watch the vid I posted in that other thread. What polish, glaze, and wax will you be using?

PureStang 10-15-2006 05:29 PM

im gonna have to get me one...my car is filled w/ swirls and blemishes that need to be taken care of

i watched the video on autogeek.net not sure if that was yours or not. if it wasn't send me the link cause i'd like to watch it. and i was prolly gonna end up using pinnacles line fo products since thats what they used in the video unless you have a better suggestion

When (if) I do mine I was planning on using Meguiars #83 then #80 and then trying Poorboys fine wax (whatever their top of the line finishing wax is)

Is this good?

03gtmustang 10-15-2006 10:33 PM

Im not real big into Meguiars waxes and polishes, there is better stuff out there. For polishes, I like Poorboys SSR1 and SSR2.5 along with Pinnacle XMT #1, 2, 3. For glazes I like ClearKote Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze and Pinnacle XMT Glaze. For waxes I recommend DP Max Wax, Poorboys Nattys Blue, Souveran wax (and liquid wax), and Pinnacles Series II.

phil_the_thrill go with the Pinnacle XMT stuff. Once I finish off my Poorboys, Ill be using the XMT #1, 2, 3, then XMT glazes and top it with DP Max Wax.

Remember, you need to work the POLISHES in for 3-5 min (I set a timer each time) and if you use the #2 or 3 then you need to go over that with #1, then glaze, then wax.

yeah thats what im prolly gonna end up using. i gotta run to my local auto parts store to see if they carry it but i dont recall seeing it there before. thanks for all the help

phil_the_thrill 10-17-2006 10:15 PM

hey i had another question. what are the rules about using this on plastic such as my front bumper?

03gtmustang 10-17-2006 10:38 PM

You can use the ClearKote Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze on plastic and weather stripping, but you cant use any of the other stuff I listed on that. Thats why you see guys using blue painters tape on the weather stripping and plastic. For plastic and weather stripping I recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant.
