Taillight blackout question...
Has anyone used plain old-fashioned window tint to blackout their taillights as opposed to shelling out the $65 to Autobadges.com? I've got a roll of limo and 35% (I think) sitting in the garage collecting dust and just wondered if it was worth breaking out the old X-acto knife to cut some out. The honeycomb covers just aren't doing it for me anymore. :beerchug:

Well the one's from Autobadges are pretty thick.I'm not sure if regular tint would hold up.

Buying Tint + Labor + it looking crappy in a few months + spending the $65 anyway > $65.00
I give you kudos for trying, but sometimes cheap is not the best price, if you know what I mean. |
Definitely buy the overlays from autobadges. They're pretty rugged after multiple washes. With window tint, you might end up scratching it too much from just washing. You can also go with a spray on tint. I think summit sells VHT nightshade and then put a coat of clear on, you'd be good. Another way is to have a pro do it for you. That's the route I went and he did an awesome job.
