how do i gain power at a low cost?

Hi i just bought a stock 1998 mustang gt and i'm looking to get some more power out of it. I only have around $ 3000 to $4000 dollars to work with, can any one tell me what parts i should purchase first that would offer the best results.

Gears, 4.10 auto 3.73 5 speed(around 500-1000$ from what ive heard) CAI, lowering springs and um idk what else. Probably a tuner with 93 octane tune or something. Or you can skip all that and go for a S/C or turbo. If you want a shitload of power for real cheap you can go nitro for around 600-800$ for a good kit from what ive heard, and still have some to spend, but you gotta change ignition+sparks when you do that too.

And forged pistons.

Make a whole bunch of posts asking the same question, and magically, it should just happen.

Heres my performance plan....
1. Save money.
2. Turn 25 so insurance will be cheaper.
3. Wait until driving record is clean. No tickets.
4.Buy a cobra.

how much money are you wanting to spend...takes money to get more power... takes alot of money to get alot of power..

For cheap:
gears (3.73 or 4.10s) + a 75-100 shot of spray( need to add a few fuel components such as injectors and a fuel pump)

Most expensive:
Put it all towards a used supercharger kit (maybe new, not sure how much they run for your year stang) run ~8psi and pick up some good power.

Compromise situation:
Buy gears (still one of the best mods you can do for these cars) + do a PI swap ( basically you update your motor to match that with the specs on a 99+ GT motor, and more or less pick up 50hp or whatever the difference is between the two).

Personally I would do the compromise situation, since nitrous needs to be refilled, and ultimately building the motor up some (PI swap) will provide better flow which will give you more power when you do get a supercharger, then if you boosted your motor as is.

nitrous you do NOT necessarily have to mess with the fuel system. You have to deal with that when you run a dry shot, not a wet princess :)

well is it not technically the amount of nitrous you want(75,100,125,150) that truly decides how much fuel you need thus determining whether or not you need fuel upgrades?

Generally no. Not a wet, as wet is kinda considered fuel enrichment.

Small shots on a dry kit you upgrade the fuel pump and possibly injectors depending on the size. Wet kit no mods are needed up to a 100. Over that I would upgrade the pump for sure.
