Need information on superchargers
 

Hey guys this is my first post on here so I'm looking forward to your thoughts and information. I have a 99 Cobra and I would like to supercharge it. I don't know much about them but I have been reading as much as I can from previous posts. I'm trying to find out about the innercoolders and what the difference is between 2 and 3 core. Also, is it safe to boost 10 psi with only a 2 core or do I have to have the 3. So far I'm steering towards the procharger P 1sc since I won't have to tap the oil pan. Any info would be a huge help in the decision process.

A procharger is going to be the easiest install and probably the easiest to upkeep supercharger you can get, so good choice there. A lot of guys on here have seen good power from p1's and I have seen a few myself that make big power from them too.

3-core and 2-core intercoolers are just different sizes. The more cores the cooler the intake temp will be, but the more boost you'll lose through the intercooler (usually). With a p1 I've seen both 2 and 3 core intercoolers, but I'm not sure on temp versus power differences.

I personally would go p1 with a 3-core and then if you do need more power go with a smaller pulley or a better powerpipe to get the hp you lose (if any). I would much rather have the cooler temps so I can cruise and not have to worry about the heat.

If you live anywhere that is hot like FL,TX,CA etc... you want to run a kit with a intercooler like the procharger, or some kind of water/air setup like vortec has or other companies.

With a standard kit running the pulley setup they give you, which generally is 8-10psi max, is totally safe with a good tuner, and fuel upgrades.

The main thing is getting a tuner who knows what he is doing!

Well I found a kit on superchargeronline.com and it was the P 1sc with a 3 core intercooler. What got my attention was that it said on 6 psi. Is there another pulley I can order to get more boost and if so, is it safe for my motor.

The P1SC would be a good choice...you don't have to tap the pan if you go with a vortech V3 either as those are self contained as well. I went with the procharger because it came with the intercooler. You can build a custom intercooler setup for a vortech or run their aftercooler.

I don't know what size pulley comes with the P1's now but you should get 7-8 psi with the stock pulley. Mine is a 3.85 but I heard they may have went to a 3.9 with the newer kits. I'm making 7.5 psi at redline on my 3 core setup for my GT. To make closer to 10lbs you'll probably want to run a 3.6 or a powerpipe. As long as your tuner knows what they are doing and they stay on the conservative side for you tune it will be safe.

You can also save some cash by looking around for a used kit (craigslist). You can usually find a used kit for around 2k. Sometimes these kits don't come with everything so you might have to buy things like a fuel pump or injectors separately.
