So I finnaly nagged the lady enough this year to let me keep my tax returns...YAE!!!...I would love to buy a supercharger for the Stang and I've had alot of people telling me to look on ebay for a used one...I took a peek and they do have a few for my car but I'm really sketchy on buying things off of Ebay...is there any reason why I should stay away from buying used on there or am I just being overly cautious??? Also...buying used off of Ebay...If I picked one up, would it be a good idea to have a shop look it over before installation. Thanx for the help guys

I would always ask how old and how many miles does it have? Is he the original owner and if it was ever rebuilt.

ebay is risky unless you know exactly what you're getting and how it differs from how you would normally expect it. With blower kits, it's shocking how many little pieces get separated from kits that you find on ebay. I personally prefer to buy a complete retail blower kit. At least then you can call the manufacturer when you find missing components.

the blower itself can be rebuilt any number of times as long as there's no damage to the case or bearing journals. My big concern for you is that you don't know exactly what you're looking at (not knocking you, you asked so you must not, it's cool and you'll get better) and so you may find it hard to spot a good kit over a bad kit. They usually look identical in pictures.

I bought my blower on ebay but should have bought from vortech in the end. They said everything needed to install was included but Many items where not when the package came. Became a huge pain in the ass trying to get a fuel pump off the guy waiting for emails never did get fuel pump.
Its just a bunch of assorted parts Little parts that where missing. I didnt read the whole pust i read you where looking at KB that was my other choice i ended up buying a v2sq and am very happy with the results. Dont vortech and paxton have some discount atm to buy new? on stock engine with just aftermarket exhaust with v2sq h/o kit i dyno'd 418 rwhp 408 tq thats without upping the boost just the stock 9-10 pound pulley. I dont have a boost guage though so cant tell you exactly what boost im running. When i asked shop they said 8-9 pounds. I like the centrifical supercharger the hp curve is stock drives soo tame my mother could drive it if she stays under 3k rpm after that it turns into a fire breathing dragon. |

Another question so I don't have to start a new thread...What is the max hp I can achieve without risking blowing chunks off my motor everywhere...I heard 450 and anything above that is borrowed time. I wanted to know what the actuall block is good for (HP wise)

4.6 and 5.4 blocks have cranked out over 1000rwhp. There's no practical limit thanks to a very strongly designed block.
old 5.0 blocks would crack down the middle, not modular blocks. I don't know of a modular that's been broken by anything but a spinning chunk of broken connecting rod. 450 is too much for a stock bottom end but that's due to rod and piston strength and what you have to do on a small CID motor to get 450rwhp out of it. If you're going to blow the cash to make the power then blow the cash to not have to fix it in 2 months.
