Thinking of doing nitrous on my 07 GT, nitrous gurus only!!! HELP!
Well as the title says. So far I have a full exhaust (lt's back) and I just got a 95mm intake and tuner. I'm going to probabaly do ever n/a bolt on including cams. I had a blown GT before this and want to try out nitrous. What is the best kit out there for the money and what do you guys think of it?
Anyone know any AMAZING tuners in the virginia, pa, md area? Besides what people say about nitrous backfire and such, with a good install and tune, isn't it 99.9% safe? Thanks guys, Brandon |

price is high but its the cleanest setup out there with the highest quality parts...just remember that you cant run a simple n20 system with a microswitch. Yours is gonna cost a little bit more to buy a kit that uses the fly by wire throttle control... |
Yeah, American Muscle has that kit in the 700's. I don't mind spending that much at all for a kit specific for the 3V GT.

There are only a few kits made for only the 3v which is cool, but you can save money get a regular ford v8 kit and just get the fuel adaptor for the fuel rail. But ZEX,NX,NOS all have nice premade kits for 05+ cars.
Just dont be a pussy and spray a 50 or 75shot. It can take a 100-125 all day long. But before you do any of that READ!. Reading is your freind and learn as much as you can about nitrous before you buy any kit. And nitrous backfires can happen with any kit but you can reduce the odds by correctly using your kit. |

How often would you say nitrous backfires occur when the nitrous is installed PROPERLY. Also, what can prevent it to a minimum? |

What you want is a kit that is able to give quick nitrous and fuel atomization. One that mixhes the fuel with the nitrous evenly so it all flows well through the intake and doesnt puddle up in the bottom. Thats why I like these plate kits, because it sprays really evenly across the intake. Gives it a more even distribution of n20 into each cylinder. Nozzles work good too, but alot of times it allows for some "user error". People put the metal nozzle into a rubber intake. Seems harmless, but alot of times the nozzle is not positioned very well. The spray sometimes gets pointed into a bad spot. Ends up bounting off the sides of the intake and you might see 60hp on the left bank and 40hp on the right bank because more nitrous got to those cylinders before the other ones. That causes an unbalance with the engine rotation also which is bad for longevity. But dont think im downing nozzle kits, when installed correctly they can be just as good.... |
Yeah, I'm almost 100% sold on the Nitrous Express EFI kit. I definitely agree that the plate system seems to distribute nitrous very efficiently! Will some nice n/a cams compliment nitrous?
Also, it seems like people are pushing close to 500 rwhp on a stock block with the 3V's (good tune of course), what do you guys think? |
By proper use i mean using the nitrous above 3,000rpms and dont hit the limiter with it either. Those two cause alot of the backfires you here about. The palte is nice, but i would look into more i dont know of anyone using it yet so you might wanna find someone who has it see what they think of it.
N/a cams will work good for nitrous as they will lean more on the intake side which means more nitrous will go in and more power. Main thing is read up my freind; i read for a good 4 months or so before i even looked into kits. |
I also recommend SGS for tuning. I just had my Procharger tuned there a few months ago. They did a great job.

did you decide on shot size yet? Are you just running the NOS, or going to supercharge it like the old GT?

I know with full bolt ons (cams, heads, etc...) I can get mid to high 300's out of her n/a. I think I'm going that route this time and throwing a 100 shot on!

Go with the EFI kit, not the plate system. The plate system has a nasty lean spike. Get the Gen X2 kit with the window switch and all safety stuff. And of course a good tune and plugs. You say 100shot, but i know after awhile it will be turned into a 125 then a 150shot. It always does my freind :)

what the hell happened on that dyno!? Thats what im doing with my Mustang. I'm going the N/A build, throwing NOS, and a 5 or 6 speed eventually. Just need to get the heads now, just bought the VT stage 2 cam. When is the VT stage 3 supposed to come out?

Thats what happens when you bring your car to a fucking stupid tuner. Funny thing is, I was originally going to bring it to Kauffmans, but they said they could do it no problem. Im honestly surprised I was able to drive the car home from the shop. I never sprayed on that tune, and had to bring it to Ed Clark so he could fix it. The guys down there have even heard horror stories about that shop.

that looks like it could have messed up the motor pretty bad, if not blown it. I hope the tuner im going to is experienced. There are cobras and some other Gt's that he has done and have posted up on their website. But im still nervous about my first dyno tuning.

my plate kit worked awesome. Never any bad lean spikes....Im running 6 inch hard line from the solenoids to the plate.....it pulls all the way to redline

I'm still torn on what kit to get, that EFI kit looks good, and want to read more into these "lean spikes" you're talking about. Never heard of that kit thus far creating that. If anyone else has specific information on the 3V EFI plate let me know! |
Well im not sure if you know what we mean by lean spikes so heres a quick once over.
Every kit once it turns on takes a massive hit to your fuel system (unless you run its own dedicated fuel system) this sucks up alot of fuel and makes a lean spike where the motor gets less fuel. On our cars as it pulls fuel from the rail its easy to see on a dyno with a wideband hooked up. Some kits have worse then spikes then others. The 2v plate kit is know to have a really nasty one. |

The problem is the lean spike, just because you didn't melt a piston doesn't mean it doesn't have a nasty lean spike. Did you ever get tuned on the bottle only? i bet the a/f is nasty when it hits. Granted of course all nitrous kits do this, but the 2v plate kit is know for its nasty lean spike.

if you want a good tuner....John Lund is a great tuner. he is on svtperformance but i forget his screen name. he uses evolution performance's dyno.
