Some issues.....

After installing the intercooler I am having some questions...Am I supposed to lose 3-4lbs of boost? Others told me like maybe 1lb, but I took it to redline today just to see how much boost I was getting and I only saw 5psi. I am on the 8psi pulley and normally saw 9psi...Pretty sure I dont have a boost leak anywhere, it idles and runs fine. Also how will my tune be affected by this? I mean will it run rich because I am seeing less boost, or will it adjust itself according to the boost? I am on the 3.60 pulley right now,so do I need a 3.12 to see 10psi??

I know for sure that I need a bigger bypass valve. Its giving me alot of compressor surge if I rev above 2500-3000 rpms...How will this affect the car until I get a bigger one?

I would change the pulley and see what kind of difference it makes. it could rule out the boost leak, or confirm it.

there isnt a kink in your boost gauge line, is there?

Maybe belt slippage?

Adding an inter-cooler means lower temps. Lower temps means less pressure, right. So, if I am not mistaken, I think you should see less boost.

You should swap pullies now and you need a tune. Adding colder air is a different ball game. I am no expert, but I think this merrits some consideration.

well I didnt think that lower temps is the cause for less boost but it could be. I know that colder air will lean out the a/f ratio because theres more oxygen, but if im only seeing 5psi then I think that would make it run rich. Going to order the bypass valve soon and the pulley so I can get it tuned...after i check for boost leaks

you should see 1-2psi less in most cases because the intercooler causes a restriction thats where the boost loss comes from. You got to have a leak. I would think you should do ruffly 7psi with that pulley. If you got 9psi before then yeah its low.

did you ever find out what was wrong?

nope, but theres not a boost leak thats for sure. I checked all the couplers and theyre not leaking any air while the engine is running.....I havent had the $$$ to get everything bought and tuned yet. Im in the middle of saving for 4 months rent while im in school this fall, engine bottom end parts, and working on getting it lowered so its not looking like a 4x4 anymore...All will come in due time. Just alot of things going on....
