Default adding intercooler w/o reinforcing bottom end

I am planning on adding an intercooler to my s-trim that already has 3.1 pulley and anderson boost pipe, it made 389rwhp through a 4r70w and has a stock engine. Anybody know if the power from the intercooler is going to be too much for a stock bottom end to handle or should it be able to stand up? I mentioned it has an auto because the engine is making more power than a 5 speed with the same rear wheel power would. Thanks guys.

im gonna guess that you have a V1 S trim. i have a V2 S trim with a 3.1 pulley and i see 11-13 PSI depending on the weather. im also running a paxton intercooler and a miles per hour 4 inch powerpipe. on the dyno my car hit 408 horsepower at 5500 RPMs, car went lean because the fuel pump was maxed. now that some sick power on a stock bottom end going through a automatic. the tuner pulled some timing and my car has 395 horspower. the intercooler helps with heat on a hot day your car will pull so much timing that it will feel real slow. same weather with intercooler no powerloss at all....

the power isn't what really blows modulars... it's the tune. the intercooler will help matters. Don't go bumping the boost beyond what you have already... that's just plain silly.

oh yeah, about the fuel... i should have added that i experience some nasty detonation under heavy load so i bought a boost-a-pump that will be in before the intercooler so fuel delivery with svt focus pump and boost-a-pump [hopefully] wont be a problem... so with a good tune and plenty of fuel it sounds like it will be ok? i dont have a boost gauge on but thats sitting right next to the boost-a-pump so we will see what its making once its back on the road. if you saw the picture section here in december the last of my gt was a twisted unibody and missing front end, but i will be getting it back up and running this week and picking up where i left off.

The cooler will help with that detonation not extra fuel (unless it isnt getting enough which i dont belive soo with your setup and focus pump) as the detonation is pre-igniting fuel. I would get the cooler setup and retune the car after you do the BAP also. If its making to much power which it will gain power for sure you can pull timing out or deboost it. Good numbers ps threw that auto
