KB or Procharger?

I have been doing some research and have narowed it down to the KB and the procharger P1-SC. Any opinions on which is better? The car will be mostly street but i still want good numbers at the track on the occasions that i go.

I think the kb gives you more overall power, I know they will give you more tq with out haveing to run high boost. But the procharger is what I would choose Especially if your doing the install, and like the way they sit in the engine bay.

I would like to make around 400 rwhp

Since you have 3.90s, a KB is going to be a tire eating machine. Thats a relatively steep gear for a screw-type blower. A centrifugal blower is RPM dependant so you might be better off with a Procharger, Vortech, or Paxton.

Kenne bell would be a better "street racer" because you make full boost as low RPMs, but with 3.90s it puts you back in high rpm when you shift which is best for a centri because it puts you back close to full boost.

What he said and 400 is easily done with either set up.

I have been hearing alot about the Vortech mongoose kit, how does that compare?

MattJ 04-15-2007 08:27 PM

Mongoose kit is just the entire supercharger kit with absolutly everything you need down to the tune. Tim has a "secret" tune so you can throw it on and drive but its just a rich tune. Youd have to have your car tuned regardless to put down 400rwhp. Modularpowerhouse is a great shop and that would be my first pick to purchase something from.

If you call their shop, they are MORE than willing to help you out and give you suggestions on what you would like best for your setup. They sell both kenne bell and their mongoose vortech or paxton kit.

are the centri kits difficult to install?

venom 04-16-2007 06:10 AM

Im on the same boat but will be going with a KB. Fits right on top looks more like factory and you get instant boost which is what you need for a street car. Kb just increased all their kits for our apllication its a 2.1L plus it comes with a new manifold plus for our motors you need all the tq down low http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge...angcobra46.htm

Its pretty straight forward... just time consuming. If you are decent with cars, you can knock it out in a day.

Comparing a KB and a Procharger is like comparing a Chevy and a Rolls. KB is a way better blower....I would not use a Procharger unless someone gave it to me.

is it true that KB power runs out after 2k rpm?

How can you compair them they are totaly different styles of blowers. The KB will make instant power and more power down low the ATI Procharger will make less power down low and build boost with rpm. Either one will get you to that 400rwhp you want. Me i like the ATI setup plus there cheaper and easier to install. But thats up to you.

venom 04-17-2007 05:59 PM

If you want wait a bit and as I might get the KB soon. You can see #s and see if thats what you want.
