will this fit?
this guy says this will fit any 4.6 will it fit my 02 GT?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ford-...94433865QQrdZ1 and by the way this seems like a good deal if you guys say yeah im gonna do it, is this a good blower or what? i dont know much about this stuff and i was going to go with a vortech but a roots style charger always sounds good |
That is a whipple blower for a Lightning truck. They use a different timing cover than your car. The pully arrangement would be different, throttle cables, lines, etc. Lightnings use pretty much the same heads so im sure that it would physically bolt on to the top of the motor but youll need some custom work done. It would be pretty sick if you could do it though!
|
hwo do you know its for a lightning?
|
how much custom work are we talking here i mean i know a couple of guys who know what there doin under the hood of a car and im not to bad my self but what would be involved and how hard would it be?

will i be pushing too much power through my engine though cause i have all stock internals and what not so it can only handle the 400 hp. and i might call this guy and see if he wants to take it off ebay and just give it to me for what he payed 1500 wich would be AWSOME and then find out what i would need for it what do you think?
and also is there anyone else who has some input on this cause i would like to hear some other opinions also thanks max |

It would definately be worth the effort if you can get it for under $1000. I havent really looked at a lightning timing cover too long, but I think you can just arrange the pullies like a GT and find some way to route the belt over the blower pulley. The intake youll need should come with the whipple kit. Its for the lightning so youd need to have a smaller filter on it and route the battery to the back. Do some more research and see what you find. You may be on to something here...
"G pure" in all seroiousness i do not see you buying this..... i say this because you asked a stupid question. i know im being a dick about this but who cares u will never meet me |
wow thanks stanger you seem like a cool guy and a nice one too.
way to be an ass, i dont even know what question you are talking about and im sorry if it was stupid because im not a mustang/car genius like you. im still learning about all of this thats why i may have asked a dumb question. but hey thanks for the support :poke: |
It's hard to tell, but if that thing is for a Lightning (manifold and all) then it will not go on a 4.6 without some serious fabrication. A 5.4 has a much taller deck height, so the intake is quite a bit wider. Looks like more trouble than anything; I'd try to score it cheap then sell it to someone else for a tidy profit. Or just forget it and use the cash to buy something else.

G Pure, I would ask Randy (in the parts section) he might just have some more solid answers for you. Might be easier to call him if you're trying to get this ASAP. I personally don't know jack about power adders, so that's the only advice I could give you.
Randy Stinchcomb 410-655-2000 parts ext 5618 If you have the money for it, I would think about gettin' the sucker and resellin' it.. Im sure you could make a pretty good proffit and put it towards the Stang. And as far as Stanger00... I wouldn't worry about him, I think Korea has ****ed with his head... No Mustang for that long will do that to ya... :topicclosed: |
Stanger00 is just a troll. Nothing cool would ever get done if noone ever tried. Well I looked at the lightning timing cover and it uses a dual belt setup like the 03/04 cobras do. That means that the snout of the blower is way too long to line up with your pullies. You would either have to find a shorter blower snout, or build a custom dual belt setup with a custom harmonic balancer and custom bracket.
Its not worth it basically. I mean if you could get it for $500 I would still do it because the thing is worth $2k at least. Its an easy sell at that price too. Just keep saving for a kenne bell if you need the twin screw. If you just want boost then get into a vortech s-trim. You can get that system done the cheapest and its a great blower. Plus you can start 8psi non-intercooled like me and add the cooler later and possibly a smaller pulley. |
the first problem i see with this is that the blower is for 4v cobra's not GT's. So this doesnt fit regardless, that and the fact that the seller has no idea what he is selling also makes me say no.
|
yeah i just passed on this one it just didnt seem right it wasnt for my car and it was so cheap. but whatever im still on the hunt now
|
what are you looking for anyhow a KB or just a supercharger in general? I know of a good number of them if i knew what kinda setup you want.
|

1500 bucks ant gonna get it done, keep on saving that cash up.
|
spike do you know of new ones or are you talking about used ones? and what do you think about what jeredan is saying cause i have been looking at ebay and ive seen some ok looking kits/ parts.
and jeredan whats that website cause i would like to check all the parts out? thanks max |
I see used kits all over the internet. But most are atleast $2K for used vortecs, and upper $2's low $3's for most ATI procharger setups.
|
Here ya go ----> http://www.superchargersonline.com/accessories.asp
Trust me $1500, I just did this a little while back. Only my Head unit is used. All the other parts are new. I paid $700 for the head unit and it actually did come with the discharge pipe and bypass valve. Plus I found a couple used intake elbows at the speed shop that were the same as vortech pieces. Got some used injectors off svtperformance.com and a lightning MAF. Its easier if you just buy the whole bracket assembly from that site for $289 youll spend a little more buying them seperate. You just have to search and you will find good deals. Its been worth the effort:breakdancesmilie: heres the manual-----> http://www.vortecheng.com/pdf/manuals/4FH4FL218im.pdf Oh and BTW if you do decide to do this I will GIVE you my old stock plastic vortech intake and the 80mm MAF bracket. I dont need it since I bought the powerpipe. |
That kit is for a 4.6L 3v. It won't fit a 2v without major modifications. I pic of the instruction manual shows Mustang GT 4.6L 24v.
|
thanks a lot jeredan im gonna check out all that stuff ill tell you wen i start getting the kit together :boink:
