Power adders.... Curiosity..

This is something i've been thinkin' about and im just curious on some of the answers..

Pertains to gas mileage, power etc...

Those of you with SC's, Cobra's included.. What kind of Gas mileage do you get, without getting into the boost too much.. Same question for when you're playin around and gettin into the boost alot?

Now, Turbo's & TT's.. Same two question..

Ok, how about the Stock (or close to stock) GT's and Mach's?

Now, obviously it will depend on gears etc so let's hear your setups as well..

Mostly im just curious because my car has always seemed to get sheety gas mileage compared to GT's.. And quite obviously, im looking to get a new car soon so I want to explore all of the options to get the most out of my purchase when the time comes.. :Woot:

Thanks guys.

so far I've noticed that I get about the same mileage as the GT did as long as I keep my foot out of it.But when that happen's I will tell you :)

I get about 16 mpg with city/highway driving. If I'm out on the highway for a long trip I can get about 20 mpg. Really, at this point I have just realized my car isn't a gas saving car so when I feel like stomping on it I just do it and not worry about it! ha ha ha

with a blower and 4.10's i get about 18 mpg on the highway. thats going about 60-65 mph. on the city i get about 15-16 mpg. when i'm on boost i fuel just about every other day lol

on a straight stock 03 gt motor with 3.27 gears I get 8-11 city, 13-17 mixed and 20-27 (got 29 once) highway. Like jjtgiants said, it's not a fuel efficient car by any measure. When you want to waste 10 bucks in my car, floor it a couple times in 4th gear, doesn't take long to eat a dime. I've even wasted 1/4 tank in the 6.5 miles from my house to my office just to see how fast I could do it.

Turbo cars get better mileage/rwhp thanks to using free power to turn the compressor, blowers use crankshaft power to turn the compressor and turn in lower rwhp per unit fuel burned but they get about the same mileage if you stay off the right pedal.

I think you have a fuel leak or something how the hell do you only get 8-11 mpg in the city. Do you drive around in first gear?

Youve got to be kidding right?? Theres no way a terminator gets as good MPG as a GT. I drove an 03 for a week and it about put me in the poorhouse! I was running through almost $20 bucks a day driving that supercharged beast!

Well, I kinda do drive around in first and 2nd gear and I floor it off every stop and keep it floored until the next light. Why stick around with the moron patrol that is everyone on the road when i have the traction and power to be way way way out in front of 90% of them, safe and secure in my own time zone of pleasantly empty road.

i have a 98 gt with just exhaust and CAI with 3.27 gears and i get 21 city and 25 hwy without even taking it easy

ha ha ha.....that's awesome dude! I'm not that bad cause it takes a toll on the tires, but that's funny man!

Assuming all else is equal, aka cars make the same power and have the same driving conditions etc etc

a positive displacement supercharger aka Roots/twin scew (KB/eaton) will hurt your gas milage.

A Turbocharger or a centrifugal supercharger will increase your gas milage.

i maybe lost a mile or 2 with the procharger, cams, and 3:73 gears if i stay out of boost.

stanger00 09-13-2006 12:47 AM

i get about 16 mpg all the time. if im in the boost alot something like 10 mpg for a tank. if i cruise and dont use any boost 18 at the most.
