Well, So I was driving down the road tonight and some Saturn Ion Redline kept trying to get me to race him. I heard they were slow, but Ive never seen one race a GT and he said it was stock. I took the bait and slowly pulled him N/A. Those things have a nice kick from the start but their topend is weak. So I was just messing around and I sprayed it a little next to them. We ran from a third gear roll and thats when it happened.
Normally when I spray the car I can smell burnt fuel during the run. I know for sure that its not leaking anywhere during spray. I have smelled raw fuel and its a different smell. This time I smelled it, but the engine seemed to be running like normal during the pull. After I let off the gas and pushed in the clutch, the car died.... The "Service Engine Soon" light came on, and I had lost power steering. I was thinking, "OH NO!!". I was for sure that I had blown the motor, or at least the intake. I rolled to a stop, got my flashlight, and popped the hood. Only thing is, there was no visible damage. There was no smoke or any fluids leaking. I looked all over, under the intake, under the car, there was nothing. I got in and tried starting it.....I SHOULD have checked the plugs before starting it, but I was in a panick and didnt know what to do. It could BARELY start. I had to give it some gas because if I didnt it would die again.Once I gave it some gas, she idled really rough. I figured I could at least drive it closer back to town since I was on the highway. I babied it back into town and kept it under 2000rpms. Pulled into the car wash, and popped the hood. WTF! It was running smooth again! I listened hard and it sounded just the same as it did before the incedent. Gave it some revs and she sounded good. I dont know what happened. Right now, I am thinking It was running so rich on the top end, that when I let off the engine was flooded with fuel??? I dont know, just a thought but has anyone else heard of this? For some odd reason ever since ive had this progressive controller, I hear a short scratching sound when I let off the gas. It doesnt sound all that bad, but I thought maybe it was the tranny or maybe a little detonation....I hope not. Well for starters the 50 shot pills are going in until I get this sorted out or get a damn tune already.....

Hmm. I assume you ahve all the safety goodies right? FPSS, WOT Switch etc. Honestly this may be way off base but I've heard of those progressive controlers damaging solenoids. Maybe your nitrous noid is going bad and you're just spraying fuel making it super rich. It's a long shot but hey. And nitrous should smell sweet when it burns not like fuel?

Get the code read, and start from there. You need to know why teh SES light came on, unless it simpl.y came on because the car stalled.
I have to assume that you did not do any serious damage, or the problem would not have cleared up so quickly, but then againm you never know either. If I were you, I would NOT spray until you get a compression check. That is the only way to know for sure.

It's not unusual for a car to die when pushing in the clutch from high speeds. Mine did this on a regular basis at the track before it was tuned. This can be cured with a tune BTW. Might wanna get the code read just to be safe

OK I called the NOS tech line and talked to the same old guy I have talked to before. Hes like a nitrous genious or something.......
I explained what happened and he immediately said it sounds like the solenoids. I have been needing new solenoids since I am still on the NX Mainline solenoids. The NX guy told me they really werent made for progressive use, but I was planning on getting new ones soon. He said that cheaper quality solenoids arent able to seal properly with a progressive controller. When the solenoids are flipping so fast, then when I immediately stop it (by letting off the throttle), there is some fuel and nitrous slipping past the seals. He said that the scratching sound I am hearing is most likely nitrous slipping past the seals. The incedent last night where the car stalled, he said is most likely the fuel solenoid sticking open after the throttle plate is closed, flooding the engine and stalling it out. After I drove the car, it cleaned the excess fuel out that was sitting in the motor. If that had happened with the nitrous solenoid, I would have a toasted motor. I wont spray it until I get new solenoids. I am going with NX Lightning solenoids. Maybe this weekend...... I cant have the code checked because it never came back on after I got the car started.

Anybody remember this.....someday you kids will listen:bash:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Progressive controllers pulse the solenoids. This will lead to pre-mature failure of the solenoids. Many nitrous experts (and myself) do not recommend their use. Fix your traction problem and launch on the juice........." http://www.mustangboards.com/power-a...ive+controller

I say get rid of the controller, buy some lower control arms and more traction. AND GET SOME GEARS.

??? I didn't have a question whether mine would work or not? (i'm confused LOL) No haven't sprayed yet. Still waiting to get all the parts for the install. ordering the pressure gauge, FPSS, steel braided line (I don't want to use the rubber one that comes with the main line kit to feed the fuel solenoid). Then it'll be ready for install. Tune might have to wait unfortunatly for a bit... Back on topic though. I've heard nothing but bad things about progressive controlers. And the lightning solenoids look pretty cool (carbon fiber solenoid FTW). I plan on getting a lightning purge solenoid when I get a purge later down the road.
