which one to get

I was thinking of supercharging my 97 saleen. It is one hundred percent stock besides the borla exhaust it comes with. I have $4500 so can go for pretty much any supercharger I have found so far. I like the wine u get from a Paxton but not something that will draw to much attention, as cops are a factor now without the loud supercharger. So want to know what is the best bang for the buck. This is my mainly driven car unless rain, snow, or cold weather. I live in NJ so not driven in the winter. Reliability is a factor but so is power and installation. Any info on what is the real best bang for your buck with pros and cons on what u choose. Thanks hope to here from………

There will be a ton of people who say Vortec,Ati Procharger, and paxton Novi 2000 and thats because there all great kits. Its really up to you which one you like. Me i would go look for used blowers as 4500 wont get you a kit and get it tuned. Once you see what kinda blowers there are used (and there are tons of perfectly working used blowers out there) then go with it.

Me i am a fan of the ATi Procharger, but the vortec and paxton are also great kits. I mean there all good really.

Ati is super easy to install has no oil lines to hook up and comes with a intercooler. But the intercooler does it make it harder to setup.

Vortec is about as easy to install as an ATI but you have to tap the oil pan, and T into the OIl pressure sending unit for oil for it. and doesnt come with a intercooler or after cooler (normaly).

Paxton are just like the Vortec but are super effecent blowers.

I would stress getting a dyno tune as you will get a safer tune that makes more power then a FMU (fuel managment unit) or a standerard tune that comes with all kits (normaly).

Its up to you really. But here comes the army of lovers of blowers soon...

Hey yea I really like the procharger but was told it really wasn’t that loud because of how it was all contained is this true? Never heard one in person but have heard an Eaton on o3 cobra on dyno and was really loud but very nice. Is it the same sound along those lines just quieter or what.

Yea, they're wrong. Prochargers are LOUD! At idle loud, wot loud they're just loud lol.

I was told by Texas Hot Rods that prochargers are loud, but not annoying loud.

4,500 will get you the kit with no problem.

Stage one procharger kits go for around 3750 usually, shipping usually costs a good amount. It also depends if that kit comes complete. The money you have left over should get you a tune.
under heavy acceleration. (btw, stage 2 kits run 4,158 usually.)

I see too many issues with Powerdye and Procharger reliability. Vortech or paxton are my first choices in centri type. Other that that, FRPP, Roush, Saleen and KB all sell very nice roots/twin screw type kits that built low end power better than centri's at the cost of more money. They're easier to install IMO than centris too. Don't forget about Allen supercharger systems either. Those are very nice and very hard to find under the hood if you don't know what you're looking at. They're roots type mounted under a custom intake.
