I have a friend that hand polished the intake on his tpi camaro. The surface stock is very porous (sp?)/ He used sand paper (rough to smoother) and a metal polishing compound and it turned out really nice. Not a perfect shine but definite improvement.

Like frito said, get different grits and work your way all the way down to a really fine grit then get some fine metal polish and goto town. its deffinetly going to take some elbow grease.

20 hours with sandpaper and a dremel with a polishing tip. Go slow, do it right.

My calipers were black and gray but (and I'm not the guy referenced earlier) I took some sandpaper to them and turned them to a kind of matte silver. I'm going to be having them powdercoated in body color as soon as I can get some down time for the car.
