Just checking out superchargers

I don't have the money now, in a couple years I may consider supercharging my 04 Mach 1. I've been looking at "kits" just to see about how much it would cost, but it's frustrating that there is never very much information about what's included. So would something like this be good?

http://www.speedworx.com/Vortech-Sup...h-I-p-283.html

$5500, does that include everything or are there other things needed, and does it come pre-tuned or do you have to dyno tune it, etc. Anything that would be too hard to install myself?

Looks like it's more expensive than other places I've seen. When I get some money, Im going to get an MPH Vortech Mongoose kit with a T-trim and a paxton A/A intercooler. It comes with everything you need, plus Tim's tune.

If I had a Mach I, I think I would just go with a stock Cobra blower off of an 03 - 04. Guys pull these off all the time to get KB's and you can't use them on a GT, but they will fit on a Mach I. I have seen them 4 sale for $700. Then you need all the other items such as injecotors, MAF, and fuel pump, but I would bet for $1500 you could be set.

We should try to find someone that has done this.

:wallbash:

So who wants to buy that for me and hold on to it until I get the money? :censored:

This is gay... I would buy that cuz it's fricken cheap but my dad won't let me spend any money on mods until it's paid off (which is understandable) but only $600 for a pretty much new supercharger is a killing!

oh and the 03/04 cobra eaton swap on the mach is not that easy...look it up

Stangdude27 04-20-2006 08:14 PM

I would just order a mongoose kit from MPH. I really don't think anyone who has got a kit and tune from him regret it all. Worth it to me. Good luck if you don't listen to sound advice.

It's not that hard either. I would not try it with my own hands, but I checked with the guys at Kauffmans, and it can be done.

kcast 04-20-2006 08:20 PM

did you add it up, wiring, blower, intake, etc??? it will probably cost around 3k....thats bout the cost of a mongoose kit...

dsg_gt2004 04-20-2006 11:48 PM

this is a quote for a full vortech, non-intercooled mongoose kit for a mach 1
>>$4850 plus $750 to install,$65 shop supplies ,tax and shipping.<<
as quoted by tim(owner of modular powerhouse)
http://www.modularpowerhouse.com/for...33&postcount=4

just remember that tim has yet to lose a motor with his tune(mongoose kit gets its name from the tune)

yeh, you can send it there....but im sure you have to pay extra for that...
it can be installed anywhere..when it gets down to the tune, you could take it anywhere and have it dynoed and then send the dyno sheet to tim to see if anything needs tweaking(if so, he can just email you the new tune and you add if to your tuner, which you then use to reflash your computer)

WaterDR 04-21-2006 04:26 AM

I check with Dave later this week, but I bet you get get a Cobra blower done for less then $2,000.

Stangdude27 04-21-2006 09:56 AM

but get the 2.2 for future growth.

My brother recently supercharged his GT, cost him ~5500. He, of course, had to get a kenne bell. He got the 1.7L one. At the public school there is a 99/00 black GT and he recently supercharged his car with a vortech supercharger. He doesnt know that my brother has a 1.7L or how much PSI he is running, and i dont know how much PSI he (the black GT) is running, but he apparently thinks that his is plain old better. My understanding of the situation is that a twin screw is much better than a centrifugal style... am I wrong?
EDIT: No, i dont know why my brother doesnt peruse these forums, lol, his car is awesome =X

You don't have to. They have got their tune so reliable that you order it, they send you everything, you install it, you are happy. No need for it to ever see a dyno unless you want to. These Vortech kits put out 360 RWHP all day long on mail order tunes.

I personally would have it dynoed to check the air/fuel ratio, just to be sure.

roots type blowers are better for the street, the centris are good for the track...
