Correction, both parties vote to help themselves and their buddies, if they have the same friends they vote together. Anyone who doesn't think most of the US political system isn't corrupt is in a fantasy land.

It doesn't matter who controls what, general Americans get to vote on who screws them less not who will help them the most.

Oh, and people don't go down easy to 3rd party candidates because most people that would vote for them think they wouldn't have a chance anyways (from a study a friend of mine did this past election). I don't remember the exact percent but it was in the 80's

Here is how it works is a nutshell

the governement will not help you, you don't have enough money for them to care about you.

If they can make money and some how it benefits you at the same time they will pretend then were trying to help you but they weren't.

You CAN help yourself and should do so. If you are so inclined you should do your best to assist others because the government will only do it by accident.

If you are so convinced they vote party lines tell me why democrats won BIGTIME controlling all 3 lawmaking branches of our federal government and still had a much lower approval rating than the amount of people that voted for them?
If you want to change to make voting fair among parties adapt the European system where you vote for a party then that % decides how many reps they get... if you want to vote for a person this is how it goes. The only thing that "was true for a very long time" is that people actually voted party lines and the people in government stood buy what their party stood for. Now they are like 90% of Americans and look out for 1 person. Themselves.

(no offense to any kids with wealthy parents, just making a point) I am going to college which i am paying for myself, while holding a job, competing in sports, and staying in several different clubs/organisations to get a jump on professional school so pardon me if I think I have a right to decide how this country is run.
