I also went to college (business/accounting) and am not a liberal so I obviously know that "seeking a higher education does not mean yer a liberal".

well, here is a list of some other people who must obviously be liberal as all thier thier education seems to be focuses around the liberal arts by the definition you posted up.

George W Bush attended Yale University from 1964 to 1968, receiving a Bachelor's degree in history in 1968

John Ashcroft recieved a J.D. ... = Juris Doctor (abbreviated J.D. or JD, from the Latin, Teacher of Law) is a first professional[2] graduate degree[3] and professional doctorate[4] in law.

Bill O'Reilly...
O'Reilly received his B.A. in History in 1971....
O'Reilly moved to Miami, Florida at age 21, where he taught English and history at Monsignor Pace High School for two years...
O'Reilly later returned to school and earned an M.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University

Richard B. Cheney attended the University of Wyoming where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in political science.

Newt Gingrich received a B.A. (bachelor of arts) degree from Emory University in Atlanta in 1965. He received an M.A (master of arts). in 1968 and a Ph.D in 1971 in Modern European History from Tulane University in New Orleans.

that was with a 5 minute intrenet search, im pretty sure if i dig deeper on other wel known conservatives im going to see quite a trend here. i looked for Rush limbauorgh but i cant spell his name so the search diddnt find him. lol

not taking ANYTHING out of context. you said it was just some liberal arts B.S. and i was just making it known that Liberal Arts has nothing to really do with being a liberal or conservative.

The point is you are entirely missing the point behind what a liberal arts colleege provides, and in doing so to anyone who understands what the "liberal arts" are you look somewhat ignorant. Liberal arts have absolutly NOTHING to do with politics, however, that "liberal art b.s" is responsible for a lot of the good things we have in this world.

most of the most famous conservatives have spend quite a good amount of time learning "liberal arts"

Your beloved president-elect is BaraCk Obama (Read the title of this thread and take note to who started it)

I understand what you are saying but you know just as good as I do that I have not said that ALL liberal arts majors are liberals in a political sense. I guess it is just more of a saying around here. I grew up maybe an hour from UNC-Chapel Hill, a liberal arts school (as opposed to say NC State, a more agricultural, engineering, and business-oriented university), and what comes out of there?...A lot of liberals in a political sense. There probably are some conservatives, but a lot of liberals. John Edwards is just one that pops into my head. Many of our state officials are as well. It is just the reality of the situation.

But anyway, this thread was about Obama as president-elect, so of this from me. I'm done. Barack is our current president-elect and that's that.

Psychology is very much liberal arts just so you know. Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not but his statement about your major being a liberal arts major is correct. However, his connection about liberals and liberal arts i'm not standing up for

My granddad was his history teacher for one year. How I remember the story was that he flunked. The next year he passed, and my granddad became the dean of U-dub.

completely off topic, I know. Fun fact.

Sounds like the old College Republicans chair at my campus who took the Black Student Alliance's constitution, changed every word from black to white, and used that to create the White Student Alliance (which ended up not being established). Let's just say we as a club almost got banned as a result (though part of it was the wonderful article he wrote for the school paper). Either way, the point is, if a minority does it, it's fine, but if a white guy does it, he needs to be kicked out.

Me thinks you may be right. I spent a ton on ammo last week. I even bought a few boxes of 30-30 ammo for my Texas centennial rifle and carbine, and I never plan to shoot them. That may change though.

I really doubt that a bill calling for a large increase in taxes on firearms and ammunition would go over well. The NRA has some pretty damn good lobbyists and firearms are not open to sin tax. They will have a damn hard time regulating such things, especially given the privae sector is so large. How many second hand sales of alcohol, tobacco, or gambling do you know of? They aren't durable goods, and are therefor easier to tax.

I am not really too worried about my 2nd amendment rights being stepped on by the Obama Democratic government, but I am worried about the price of ammo and guns going out of sight with the tremendous tax that the democratic party led by Obama is going to place on it. So, that is why I bought a ton of ammo last week. I already have enough weapons to protect my property.

It sounds as if you don't even know why the 2nd amendment to our constitution was written in the first place. Jackass? Maybe so, but at least a well armed Jackass thanks to our 2nd amendment.

No ones going to take away your guns. Some things just need to be changed because some people are obviously too stupid to be within 12 feet of one.

That's what they said in Europe. Now in England, you can go to jail for having the wrong kind of plant in your house (and by plant I don't mean one that makes drugs). That's what they said about the 10th Amendment but the Feds quickly took away the states' right to choose a drinking age. That's what they also said about one's income, but then we got the 16th Amendment which gives the government full rights over 100% of our wages. The only thing that stops them from taking it all is the lazy bums in DC. Just remember, w/ the right people in DC, anything can happen. It is our duty to keep vigilant to keep those bums in check.
