So Russia just invaded Georgia

They have already taken over Ossetia, and achieved their military objectives. Georgia wants peacetalks and withdrew from Ossetia but Russia kept up with the air raids and have now invaded Georgia proper, and are carrying out a full-out assault, launching ships and everything.

So this will probably piss Turkey off and they will get involved with the 100k or so troops they have near the Georgian border.

The UN isn't doing shit, and the US is fucking pissed off, as expected

It's weird for me to see two formal militaries fighting each other now, I've gotten used to the super power vs guerrilla warfare. Now it's actually soldiers fighting each other, both georgia and russia are pretty equal in terms of military technology (except for maybe air/sea power), so they will likely do some damage.

Looks like the US will yet again be spending a crap load of money to "help" another country out.

I'm not going to pretend to be educated on why Russia invaded Georgia and the history between the two countries, but I laughed when I heard President Bush basically lecturing Russia....like that idiot has any room to talk. Note to President Bush.....people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

It will be interesting to see how this will play out. I think Russia really wants to become a super power again and this is probably a tactic to show the world they are back in business.....which is sad cause people are being killed.

Patton had it right; after WW II he wanted to invade the USSR! We could of walked right over them than and been the sole super power in the world.
By the way Georgis invaded first and Russia went in to help! Don't mess with Russia it's still a very powerful country!

Well, Georgia went into Ossetia, which broke away from Georgia in the 90's, but is not part of Russia. They are pro-russian though, so Russia went into Ossetia to get the Georgians out, and then invaded Georgia and are now dominating the country
