WHAT SENATOR JOHN GLENN SAID

Things that make you think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit t here were 35 murders in the
Month of January. That' s just one American city,
About as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't
Have started this war, state the following:

A. FDR led
us into World War II.

B. Germany never attacked us ; Japan did.
>From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ..
An average of 112,500 per year.

C. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us .
>From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ...
An average of 18,334 per year.

D. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attackd us .

E. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
>From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..
An average of 5,800 per year.

F. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us .
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
Times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on
Multiple occasions.

G. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
Has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
Al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who
Slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining
About how long the war is taking

But It took less time to take Iraq
than it took Janet Reno
To take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
In Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to < B> find
The Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the
Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
Than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his
Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick

It took less time to take Iraq than it took
To count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a HARD JOB!
The Military morale is high!

The biased
media hopes we are too ignorant
To realize the facts

But Wait there's more!

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR)
Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel
Do what they do for a living. This exchange between
Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum
Is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive
Impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one
man's explanation of why men and women in the armed
Services do what they do for a living

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what
Some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (seaking to Senator Glenn):
"How can you run for Senate
When you've never held a real
job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):
"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions.
My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different
Occasions. I was in the space program . It wasn't my
Checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was
Not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the
Daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... As I went the other day...
To a veteran's hospital and look those men ...
With their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell THEM
they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA
And go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans
Of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee...
And you look those kids in the eye and tell them
That their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in
Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends
Buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch
Those waving flags

You stand there, and you think about this
nation,
And you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"

For those who don't remember
During WW II, Howard Metzenbaum
was an attorney Representing the Communist Party in the USA.

Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you are reading it in English
thank a Veteran.

Very nice read. I agree completely. Some people these days just dont have the same nationalism as we did during WWII. I believe in the Iraq war to some extent. I do think we need to start slowly pulling troops out than sending more. this might be hypocritical to my earlier statement but i would never join the military unless there was a draft.

Its a very touchy subject as depending on how you feel will tell you if you are to the right or left. I think if you get your info only from one source you are being indoctronated to one side of the issue. If you want to see who you agree with more watch Fox News then Cnn or any other news and you will see the difference between the two. Listen to Rush on the radio and Air America as well. Our schools are the same way, they only teach you one side of the issue so when you are young you tend to lean to one side.

If you want a good read as well as better educate yourself like issues in global warming and Iraq war the hottest topic these days just look at these two sites. The best arguement can be had when you know both sides http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html
http://www.glennbeck.com/home/index.shtml

The right tends to be positive and wants to give you a hand up. The left tends to be negative and wants to give you a hand out. I dont know about you but Id rather learn how to fish then just to be given the fish. I discovered who I am buy doing this exercise and you will be surprised what you will discover

On a lighter note here is some funny stuff.

Did you not look at the clip venom posted? How do you explain that? I've NEVER heard another president sound like such an idiot....regardless of their party.

please explain yourself a little more.....I'm a democrat and I live with myself just fine. The problem is that you hard core bible thumping republicans think every democrat wants to kill babies through abortion, for gay marriage, and want to raise taxes. That's not the case at all, but that's what you have been brain washed into thinking. I can't stand hardcore liberals because I think they are way out of touch, I also can't stand hardcore conservatives because they are way out of touch also...

Bottom line is that this country needs to figure out how to move more toward the middle and get some **** done. This whole bickering between the two parties is just stupid and the country is going down hill fast while they sit around and bitch about stupid **** that at the end of the day doesn't mean crap.

As a person who has never voted for a republican this is hard to say, but I will seriously consider voting fo Giuliani because I think he is probably the 1 person that is close to being in the middle. I just don't want a president that is hardcore one way or the other.

ha ha...good argument....you should step out of your little box and explore things and you might end up like me and like a few things about each party.....that would bring you more toward the middle. That's where this country needs to go.

Ah, another close minded person....it's not really about changing your views, I would never expect someone to do that, but all I ask is for people to look at other peoples views and try to understand where they are coming from....this will make anyone a well rounded person.....that is about the only thing I learned in college....oh and how to do a beer bong! ha ha ha.

Anyway, I know we don't agree on ANYTHING, but I'm cool with that....I still think your a cool dude.

Too much to one side is bad just like anything in life. I agree with the right more than the left but that doesnt mean I will always vote for a certain party. Best is to vote for the best person and not party.

That was an interesting read, though I have to admit I am one of those that sits back and bitches cause I hate the government (all sides) but yet I nver do anything about it such as VOTE! I see no point in it. ALL polititions are CROOKS. If you vote your just deciding where your tax dollars hijacked to. I couldnt tell you the diff. between demacrats, republicans, right wing, left wing, cosevative or any of the rest I dont know about. Aint none of em worth a damn! I DO agree with what former president Abe Lincoln said though. He said " when a government no longer can support and represent it people, then THAT government should step down and let a new one take its place. Dont get me wrong... Im not just a Bush hater, I hate em all. I would say the same chit about John Kerry too!

That is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard....I've worked directly for two politicians doing policy work both at the state capitol and in one of the largest counties in Cali..... neither of them were crooks. Yes, there are some that are, but do you feel the same way about insurance companies? Car companies--sales people? Mortgage industry? They all take advantage of people for financial gain so don't say ALL politicians are crooks because that makes you sound stupid.
