Rally stripes

I need some opinions on rally racing stripes. I have a 2001, laser red Mustang and I'm trying to decide if I want to put either silver or black racing stripes on it. I wish I could see what it would look like before I put them on.

That is pretty f'in sweet. So, did you do it yourself or did you pay someone? Do you have any pics of the rear? How big are your stripes (8", 10", 12")?

Thanks for pics, that helps tremendously!

me and my friend did it. Its not real hard it just takes a lot of time and u gotta be really careful. Just pick a time when you have nothing else to do so you dont get rushed. theyre 8" with pinstripes. I knida screwed up the back by the mustang letters but u cant really tell. That part is a pain in the :censored:. If you wanted to you could keep the stripse going through the letters but im gettin some stainless steel letters so i cut around them.

I was thinking of going with 10" stripes w/o pinstripes. I found a shop down here that'll put the stripes on for $75/hour... they said it should only take about an hour.

Talk about completely changing the look of my stang... plus it would give it a little flavor. I would also go with the the mustang letters but I would probably go with silver instead of the stainless steel.

I wonder if it would hurt the paint if you decided to take them off.

No, it doesnt hurt the pain. When i got my car it had stripes on the hood and trunk lid. I left them on there for about a year and a half before i got the ones i have now. They peel off pretty easy if you heat them with a hair dryer or something. The only thing is that the paint under the stripes wont be faded by the sun and there may be a little color difference for a while if you took them off.

$75 an hour?!?!? to put on stripes?!? dude, do it yourself. it's really not hard at all. you can do it by your lonesome or have a friend help. just spray lots of soapy water on the car and you can move the stripes into position however you want them. then let it dry for 24 hours... it's not hard.

RyanGT04 02-09-2006 02:28 PM

Yea... i would definitely save the money and do it yourself. You cant screw it up, you have plenty of time when you put the stripes on to move them around to where you want them. Just takes time.

If you do 10" stripes I would recommend getting someone perfesional to do them, if you go 8" like me, Jack the ripper, or RyanGT04 You can do them yourself. The reason for this is the front bumper at the pony is pretty hard to get right. Also If you do your wing its a little tricky as well, do to the curves.
