mine started out all tan and brown. <yuck>
been working on changing that. Was planning on black and tan, but now im thinking of blackening everything and having blue carpet and some blue highlights.

anyways, here is the progress. also have the steeda light knob, 9mm hollowpoint door pins, billit e-brake, wiper cover, and a couple other things i think.

she's is a work in progress

here's mine. Did 11 pieces all together. Take everything out took about an hour. Painting was about 4-5 coats, no clear, about 3 -5 hours. Re-install was 45 min. My next thing is painting the "Mustang" and SRS on the passenger glove box. Also painting the pony, the horn, the srs, the dimples, and the little line on the steering wheel. Enjoy.

Thanks. I wish pictures could do it justice, I was really worried about quality of everything. Now that it's done, it looks VERY professional. I used 3 cans of dupli color vinyl and fabric paint i got from Autozone. Everything holds up GREAT and thats with no clear coat. If anyone decides to paint anything, take your time and dont be afraid of doing a few coats, don't try and get it done with just two coats. After I did my first coat, which was really smooth and light I was freaking out and thinking I made a HUGE mistake. lol, just take the time and do at least 4 coats.

i did one thick ass coat. i was hungover one day and had some cheap paint laying around. it dont look bad ! hahaha. ill probably re do it someday. the right way

How did you do the Pony on the steering wheel?

Really small brush, and steady hands.

Lances03SVT 12-29-2005 06:45 PM

I've wanted to do that for awhile now.I just don't trust myself to do it :)

It's quite easy. Make sure you have some rags and an exacto knife. If you get off of the pony and the paint dries some, the exacto will take it off without hurting anything. But, have a rag handy so you can get mistakes quickly.

whitethunder46 12-29-2005 07:12 PM

I'm doing the same thing on the steering wheel, but also all the dimples, the horn, srs, and that line on the bottom

What kinda paint did you use?

herndy_1 12-29-2005 08:59 PM

I have been messing around with some red Krylon Fusion for my interior plastic. I tested it on some random piece of black plastic around my house and it chips off. I put probably 5-6 coats on too. Then I tried a clear coat and it still chips, just a little less. Any advice? :wallbash:

So you tested it on that random piece of plastic BEFORE you did it on your car? If so, then why the heck did you go ahead and paint the car when you know it chipped?
