Default Tried some of that Plasti dip ****

And either I suck at it or FL's weather sucks because the surface came out very rough. Plus I wasted 2 cans to get 1 wheel accomplished.

Also turned the black AM center-caps into brushed aluminum.

Not sure if I want to do it to all 4 yet, or if I want to keep the aluminum center caps or use the OEM pony ones I have laying around (haven't seen what they looked like on the wheels yet). And I have to switch to chrome lugnuts.

Also, this stuff takes 24 hours to cure, and since I have to drive my car I put the wheel on after about 2-3 hours and nicked the finished with the tire iron, so I'm basically back to square one, except I have to remove all of this crap.

I like it because it's not very common. No Mustangs around me have any dipped stuff.

I've always wanted to try it but I never knew how durable it was. Did you have to do any prep work? Or just clean the surface really well then apply?

I just cleaned them with Stoner's glass cleaner first. Acetone would work well, too.

I'm on the fence about it, chrome lugs get here wednesday so maybe that'll help tie in the center caps. If not I'll throw in the pony center caps. Or go back to glossy black /w lip.

We took ours to a local shop in NC and had all four Koneg rims powder coated for $200 and 1 week. He also did by aluminum rear louvers for $80. They look geat and he guarantees all his work and will touch up any scraches and nicks through the lifetime. They look good before we loaded in on a trailer and f'ed up the front left, but that will be fixed on our next trip.

Looks great! I may need to do this with my FR500's just to give them a different look. The clear coat is peeling and looks pretty bad.
