Well damn....this disappoints me kind of. I was hoping Ford was going to trash the 5.4 and use the 5.0 in the GT500 as well....mainly so it'd become cheap, and then I could buy one for a swap. :D

Good to see Ford engineers are finally getting off their asses all the way around. Don't like the small stripes though. Definitely would switch that out for a KR single fat stripe.

love the motor and hate the color and the stripes. they look too small for the car.

unrealstang 02-08-2010 07:01 PM

NewMustangMan 02-08-2010 07:16 PM

Wombozi17 02-08-2010 08:38 PM

The stripes are doodie. Otherwise, badass

All good, except the stripes. skinny, boy racer, euro stripes gotta go, don't belong an what shall become an American legend. Ford may as well have put them on offset and called it a "Euro" version.
As for the Al 5.4L, pure sex. I have a feeling it will be used for some time in the GT500, as it is a re-design. However, the engineering program that developed the new 5.0 also was involved in 1 or 2 bigger motors. One of those is now available in the "Raptor" F150. Wonder if it'll fit in a 'stang?

Yea, but did you see the price tag? For around 70-80k it better be good. Granted that it is a true-built Shelby car not like the GT500 or the Shelby GT. They replace almost everything on the car. But just for like another 34k on top of the cost of the car.

The 5.4 is supposed to be axed by 2013. The 6.2 will replace the 5.4 in the trucks and the GT500 is eventually suppose to get the 5.0. The aluminum block is good, but its still using the same setup as the old GT500. The problem Ford has, not so much now because they passed the gas guzzler tax, is that the twin-screw style setup just puts too much parasitic drag with compared to all of the ecoboost setups coming out now and fuel economy is not where other high-hp cars are, for example the GT-R. A TT GT500 is in the future, you bet your ass.

NewMustangMan 02-09-2010 07:40 AM

Yeah I did see the tag. I think that thing looks so awesome though. Also a TT GT500 would be sick!

It just upsets me how Shelby's custom cars are always so expensive. You could easily build it with the same parts for maybe 10-15k more. But it doesn't have the name. Damn marketing.

NewMustangMan 02-09-2010 08:32 AM

I know me too cause i really want one and there is no way i could get one for a long time.

Check that out!
Dropped the cast block and developed a new technology that doesn't require cylinder sleeves if I read right.
10hp increase, 100 pounds dropped, new wheels, tires, and suspension..
Forgot to add! UGLY STRIPES!

he copied this thread!?!?

Black Sunshine 02-09-2010 09:44 AM

Damn, I am loving that glass roof. I don't like the stripes. They look wimpy.
