A short pictoral history of my Bullitt....

I figured I'd post some pics of my Bullitt when I bought it 10 months ago and show the progression since. It's been a bit slower than I would have liked, but this economy sucks, and I've got a wife and 3 kids to take care of.

Here she is when I bought her. Tiny tires, I think they were 205/50's.

Attachment 16717

Started working on her the same weekend to correct some things I didn't like too much. Like the Spectre filter that was bolted on to half the airbox. Really crappy looking.

Attachment 16718

UPR X Pipe installed

Attachment 16719

Tunable Induction MAF forward. I bought the whole setup, but didn't like the upper part for the Bullitt very much. The GT system is much better as far as the upper goes.

Attachment 16720

OK, we all make mistakes..........:p I bought a 4" HO Fibertrends cowl hood for the car, ended up not liking it, but I had worked out a trade for the stock hood, so I was stuck with it for a little while

HPM Megabite SR control arms.

Attachment 16721

MGW shifter. I highly recommend this piece for anyone. Best shifter I've touched.

Attachment 16722

Mach 1 grille delete

Attachment 16723

Grille installed, along with 10.5" rear wheels and 315/35's. Still the ugly hood and tiny front tires.

Attachment 16724

To be continued........

Attachment 16703

Attachment 16704

Vogtland springs and lower control arms installed

Attachment 16706

9" front wheels with 275/40's installed

Attachment 16707

On the way to Mustang Week

Attachment 16708

At Mustang Week

Attachment 16709

Tinted headlights, and stock hood back on the car finally

Attachment 16710

And here's what happens when you launch at 4000rpms on sticky tires with stock torque boxes

Attachment 16711
Attachment 16712
Attachment 16713

And here's the fix, to be installed this weekend

Attachment 16714

And the other toys to be installed this weekend

4.10 gears and install kit

Attachment 16715
Attachment 16716

The Eaton 31 spline and axles are already at the shop, and will be installed along with the gears.

Thanks for looking!!!!!

that car came along very nice, i like it!

krenogin 10-15-2009 04:30 PM

i vote you take the hoodscoop off.. kinda.. dunno bullits are supposed to be bare looking i think.

Bullitt5339 10-15-2009 04:33 PM

The hoodscoop is stock on the Bullitts. I really don't like the flat hood with no scoop on any Mustang.

probiker427 10-15-2009 04:59 PM

looks great, great progress

Mr. Zip 10-15-2009 05:50 PM

Damn! Nice job! So jealous of the 4:10s.

mustangvsix 10-16-2009 11:13 AM

very nice man, only suggestion I have is to get some 3.5'' exhaust tips one day, they just fill in the cut outs soo much better. But great looking ride none the less.

spike_africa 10-16-2009 02:32 PM

Man that hood does not work with that setup lol. Good choice on going back to the stock look. Bullitts look great with just a chin, grill delete, bigger tires front/back and lowered. Fantastic looking car.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 10-16-2009 02:43 PM

+1... I should have my 4.10's in by the end of the month!!! I can't wait!!! Good lookin Bullitt bro

2 weeks from now, I'm ordering the MRT Catback. The reason is that they offer a brushed aluminum tip that looks just like the Bullitt tips, but in 3.5". You can buy them seperately, but I just have weld in Flowmaster 1 chambers now, and want to quiet it down a little bit.

Yeah, like I said, we all screw up. The good thing is that it wasn't too painful to fix. The demo car for the 4" cowl is silver, and the angles they had made it look really good on that Cobra it was on. But on the Bullitt, it just didn't work. Maybe on a Saleen or something else with a larger rear spoiler, it would have been OK, but it just didn't flow with the clean simple lines of the Bullitt. I'm happy it's gone now........lol

I was going to get the Mach 1 chin, but have recently purchased a 2001 Cobra front bumper instead. That is the bumper cover that should have come on the Bullitt. With the lines of the Bullitt, it just fits.

Here's a picture of a nice Bullitt (a lot nicer than mine) with the 2001 Cobra bumper. It's just sweet. Once I saw it, I had to do the same.

Hmmm, that does look pretty good actually. I may look into that myself. :)

TUFF 4.6 10-16-2009 07:34 PM

Car looks GREAT!
Where did you get your torque box plates at?

Bullitt5339 10-17-2009 05:37 AM

I bought them at Holcomb Motorsports, since they are 15 minutes from the house. They are the Wild Rides brand, which I would suggest to anyone.

hangon 10-19-2009 06:30 PM

How much of a drop did you get out of the Vogtland springs and how do they ride?

Bullitt5339 10-20-2009 05:40 AM

They are advertised 1.6" and I think that's pretty close. I installed them with no isolators for a little extra drop. They ride a lot better than the Eibachs I had on my last Mustang, no bounciness like the sportlines, but just as much drop, the rear is a bit firm, but not too bad at all.

BikerSk8rKid 10-22-2009 09:30 PM

I'm jealous, but very nice. What is the 281 one for? Are you saying if I launch my GT at 4k RPMS my torgue boxes will pretty much wreck?

Bullitt5339 10-23-2009 04:37 AM

281 is the size of the engine in cubic inches, like the 302 of the past.

If you launch your GT at 4k on sticky tires, eventually you will have torque box problems. It could be the first time at the track, it could last quite a while, but eventually it will happen. I caught mine fairly early, so the fix wasn't too bad, but I've seen the torque boxes ripped completely off the car on Fox body cars.

Thanks, I'm going to have to check that out. Because I race my car A LOT.

Your car makes me want a bullitt SOO bad!

Yeah I agree, that's all I wanted a Bullitt or a Cobra.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 10-23-2009 03:15 PM

Hell i OWN a Bullitt and i love his car lol

Bullitt5339 10-23-2009 04:09 PM

I love my Bullitt, but the one I posted above was at Mustang Week, and I was drooling over it.......lol

It was sooooooooooo clean, it was rediculous. You could have eaten off the engine.
