NASCAR 'Stang! Pretty crazy that it's actually gonna happen, Pony cars in the Nationwide series. It looks funny, but it's still cool that we're finally gonna have something other than a fucking taurus/fusion/etc. in Nascar.

The front is supposed to be a 2010 also i think. But yeah I love how they have been using taurus' and fusion's forever, NOTT. finally use a muscle car.

It's cool that it's supposed to look like a mustang and all, but why the hell even try? NASCAR is nothing but a fast bilboard that drives in circles. They even painted exhaust pipes on the back, just dumb. It's a race car, make it look like a racecar. Clowns. Make an attempt to bring some respect to the sport.

I agree. If they were actually serious about their shit they would use the factory body from the car that they are trying to represent (like they did in the old days.) That would bring some more variables into the equation, since different cars have different drag coefficients, different body weights, etc.

You guys obviously just don't understand Nascar at all.. FR, I understand that you're a big SCCA fan boy, so you'll probably never "respect" Nascar, that's why I won't argue the point too far.

The other series' that use "stock bodies" like ALMS do other things like take away horsepower and give teams aerodynamic dis-advantages. That kind of stuff is pretty shitty IMHO, it gives the series too many opportunities to play favorites.

At least Nascar gives teams a fairly equal playing field and basically puts it in the drivers' hands. Obviously the teams with more $$ have advantages in testing and other areas, but that's no different than any other racing series or major sport.

They have certain things they can do and can't. they cant change the body and bend/push in fenders anymore to make the car shape like it really is. Nascar have very strict rules now, they have a template that drops down on the car and at every point, the template has to touch the car, to make sure no one is making their car more aerodynamic or what not. here is an example. http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/...spection-2.jpg

I respect the skill of the drivers (to a point), the hard work of the teams, and the technology of the cars. Other than the fact that it's not very entertaining to me, which is just my opinion and I understand that it is entertaining to some, Nascar just seems like a rolling bilboard. It's not as focused on development for manufacturers that trickle down to the consumer. But what really gets me, is how limited/regulated Nascar is. If they want to paint a Mustang body onto a Nascar, why can't they have anything Mustang based. Nascar is a spec class it seems. I was watching something on Dale Jr. just the other day. He was complaining about Sonoma. He stated that he hated racing there because it's too hard and there are too many turns to remember and easy to mess up. He said that he likes circle tracks better because there are only four turns to remember at most. Just hard for me to value and respect him much as a driver when he says thigns like that. There are some pretty good drivers in Nascar that can turn both ways though, Montoya comes to mind quickly.

/ end rant. Mustang nascar body is still better than any other nascar body I suppose.

There are several other drivers that have got some serious skill and definitely know how to trun left and right. Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Robby Gordon, Kyle Bush, just to name a few.. Multiple time Champions in Nascar, Sprint cars, IRL, Baha, etc... It's amazing to me how so many F1 and Indy drivers try to move over to Nascar with the idea that they will excell simply because they have driven faster cars.. Well, not many have succedded, in fact I'd say that there have only been 3-4 open-wheel guys that have managed to even stay in the Sport much less be competitive. It has taken Montoya over 3 years to even get in the ballpark! There is a reason why multiple champion drivers like Ron Fellowes, Scott Pruett and Boris Said do everything that they can to race in every single Nascar race that they possibly can, because it's the best Racing sport in the world.

Driver like Dale Jr. are a joke. You're talking about a guy that raced over 150 Late model races and only won 3. He is still in Nascar because of his name and the fact that they would lose so much money without him it would be rediculous. You should be looking at guys like Kyle Bush, yeah he's a pain in the ass, but just look at what he has accomplished. In 5 years or less he has already won OVER 50 races in Nascar's top three divisions, Trucks/Nationwide and Cup, god only knows how many Arca/CW East & West Series & Late model races he has won over the last several years, I'd guess that he has probably won in excess of 150 races in the last 7-8 years.
