Today is our son's 16th birthday and this is what he got:

It's a 92, with an 8 plug 4 cylinder from a T-bird. We have no idea how many miles on the motor but it's solid. It was originally red but has a horribly done black coat of paint, they painted over the dealer sticker!!! For $1000 we feel like we got a pretty good deal. At least the boy is happy.

JackThe Ripper 07-12-2009 04:19 PM

Sweet!!!!!!!!!

zigzagg321 07-12-2009 04:24 PM

you guys are cool parents. I got a gift certificate to wal-mart for my 16th bday present.

PColav6 07-12-2009 04:29 PM

Haha, badass. So when is he due to register on MB and begin the modding?

King 07-12-2009 04:45 PM

It's nice to see that you're raising your kids well. Haha...17th birthday should be a 5.0

Slim03GT 07-12-2009 05:02 PM

Nice!! Yea Zigs I think I got a dinner at Red Lobster or something.
Tell him congratz on the stang and happy birthday!

TUFF 4.6 07-12-2009 05:22 PM

18th is a Cobra right :D. Get him joined up and we will send him in the right direction. We know mom and dad has plenty of money :D:D

Happy Birthday

whitestang04 07-12-2009 05:39 PM

Thats awesome. Will it be his project car or a DD for him?

mustangvsix 07-12-2009 07:28 PM

very nice, it looks like he is really happy and appreciative which is a great thing to see when kids are given cars by their parents.

Mr. Zip 07-12-2009 07:36 PM

Sweet car for a 16 year old! I didn't get my first car until I was 17 and it was a 92 Camry Auto haha

mustangrn 07-12-2009 07:45 PM

Thanks Everyone!!!
He is very appreciative and excited about getting started on the mods. As you can see from the pics there is plenty of room for improvment:D

It will be his DD to get to school and activities and a job if he can find one, they are sort of scarce right now and employers are not that motivated to work around school hours.

He is trying to think up a cool screen name to get signed on now but he's not real sure about being on the same forum as his mom. You know mom's aren't exactly cool to 16 year olds.

And if anybody gets a cobra, it will be me!!!

lmfao..

and tell him this will be a good nite to join, as most of the other sites will probably thrash him for owning a 4 banger.

X2 This is the most civil forum I have been in. I haven't had a single V6 comment since I've joined. :t:

Just make sure when he gets it repainted one day he paints it silver :)

the gillz 07-13-2009 01:45 PM

hey thats a sweet ride for a 16 yr old, and safe too i doubt he would be able to wrap that around a tree. nice buy. after that he will be able to appreciate a nice vehicle later down the road.

mustangvsix 07-13-2009 03:00 PM

I think he needs parts from an SVO fox. I am assuming you can use turbo parts from one on this, which would be sweet!

It is usually easier to swap in a turbo coupe motor (forged internals, proper ECM, ect...) This was one of my first thoughts but a turbo 2.3 makes 300hp pretty easy and they are light cars. That might just be a little too much for a 16 or 17 yo. If he does, watch out mom he will be walking your s197 GT ;)
