Jacks Official Pic Thread.

So, this is going to be my official Pic thread.

With the sudden increase in Mustangboard members sporting quality DSLR cameras, i have a feeling we will be seeing a surge of pics. Both mustang and non-mustang related.

Any member with a DSLR i encourage to start your own Official Picture Thread

It will make it easier to find other members pics they post up, and people can discuss the techniques they used, get helpful criticism and suggestions, and if we all talk about what were doing with eachother we really have an opportunity to come up with some real sweet ideas for different pictures and effects.

From this point on, all DSLR pics i take that i feel the need to post will go in this thread.

I cloned my boy!

I was thinking about that lady with the octuplets, wondered what it would look like.

Might be an interesting idea to do the same pic of yourself and the car, you can be an entire pit crew!

All you need is the remote, (or a timer), a tripod, and some decent editing software.

oh hes so cute man thats a sweet pic

Must See 02-06-2009 03:06 PM

bad ass how did you do that? I so need to do that to myself. I have a decent camera with a tripod and camera and im sure Gimp will suffice. Im guess you just make layers or something like that.

JackThe Ripper 02-06-2009 03:10 PM

Yeah i had the camera on a tripod and used the remote, move the kid around a bunch.

used photoshop cs3

I would highlight logan in each of the pic and paste them on the main pic, they would all show up as individual layers. Once i was satisfied with it i flattened the image then i would fine tune each image to get rid of any unnatural edges and such that may have come with subtle differences in exposure.

Flynnster 02-06-2009 03:25 PM

Did you have the T.V. paused or how did you keep the same picture on?

Basically i took 9 pictures with the camera on the tripod to keep the perspective the same. 2 of them were off enough on the exposure that they wouldnt work.

Of the remaining 7 pics, i used the pic with him on the very far right as the main pic, and that is where he was when that pic was on the TV

The other 6 logans were cut out of the other 6 pics i took on the tripod then pasted to the first pic where he is on the far left.

so if you saw the actual other 6 pictures the tv is different in each one.

Much better. I didn't see you posted this. Anyway, the smudging one I was referring to your mug.

I can tell the last two have been PS'd. A lot in the first, and quite a bit of smudging in the second. You want to have you're smudge settings low so that it smudges distracting pixels, but doesn't quite blur the area so much that it's more distracting than before. I hope you don't mind, but I redid that first photo of yours, and really toned it down.

yah the first one of the wiife i used >Filter>render>lighting effects>soft Omni then tried to adjust to to cause some vigenetting however it ended up blowing up the middle, i need to figure a better way to do viginetting because even when adjusting it the center is still birght as shit and everything else gets dall and dark grey

The method i used in that pic to clear it up goes as follows

1) Adjust levels to get better color in exposure.
2) Use blemish spot remove to clear up skin
3) New layer -Copy layer
4) Blur the whole image ("gasseur" i think cant remember exact name) set at 1.5 to 2.5 depending on preference.
5) Invert layer to make erasing the excess blurred areas easier
6) erase everything except the skin
7) use smaller eraser and erase around eyes, lines on nose, edges of skin, and mouth, anywhere i want to restore detail
8) Invert Layer to restore proper appearance
9) Flatten image
At this point the skin should look smooth, shouldnt be any blemishes.
10) New Layer - Copy Layer
11) Elliptical selector- select around both eyes and mouth (hold shift to make multiple selections)
12) Levels (ctrl L), hit options, set both to 0.5
13) de-select
14) use eraser around eyes and lips where the skin tone changed, not on eye whites or the teeth
15) Flatten Image
16) New Layer - Copy Layer
17) eliptical selector, select the irises of both eyes.
18) Layers - Adjustments - Brightness/Contrast Bump both to 20
19) use eraser around any discolored area around eyelid.
20) Flatten Image
21) use majic wand, magnetic lasso, whatever, highlight the subject, select inverse, then go to Levels (ctrl L), adjust the middle slider to darken the background slightly to make the subject pop out.

Then save...

i think thats about it for the pic i posted.

I am debating editing out the flash reflection in the window. it is ugly, but it also lends a bit of ghetto-cred to the pic not being professional but just a fast snapshot.

my wife takes pretty good pics with her Lumix. I think it's only 5 megapixels. But she doesn't even need a tripod most times, here's a nice one she took and photochopped I think.

King 03-09-2009 11:35 PM

Chris, is that muscle on your dog or just fluff? It sort of looks like a hunchback...

Piss off, jager is 95lbs of pure muscle(surrounded by 20lbs of fat). 16 inches thick at the shoulders!

Rotty shepard mix. She has the sknny muzzle of the shepard, the short muzzle length of a rottie, the girth of a rottie and the hips of a shepard. lol

she totally kicks ass!

here is Hans, one of the Malanois that he trains with.

My CS3 book just came in the mail!!! Cant wait to learn how to REALLY use this program!

King 03-10-2009 03:29 PM

I've learned most everything with photoshop thanks to youtube. It's not too bad when you get the hang of it.

I'd hate to be on the receiving end of those dogs!

JackThe Ripper 03-15-2009 06:52 PM

Lol.. yah those dogs are pretty well trained. They had a demo today and asked me to come along and shoot it. I shot conservativly and still ended up with 500+ photos. All shot in raw... ugh... now i gotta go through and turn them into Jpeg for those guys

lol

Switch 03-15-2009 08:59 PM

Yeah, my favorite one is this one:
