A Little Something...

Bet you don't see this everyday. Considering there are only about 11 of these in the country, i'm betting its true, too.

For anyone who doesn't know, that motor is a rb26dett out of a R32 Skyline. As for the car itself, it is a 1971 Datsun 240Z. His name is Big Bird for obvious reasons. As of now, parts are currently on order to build the bottom end. The stock turbos will stay on because they don't max out till about 600, after which a single turbo will be considered, but we'll have to see about that when the time comes. Also, i'm looking for a Ford 9" rear end off of a Mach 1 specifically. Anyone know where I can find one for a decent price? The front brakes will be upgraded to what I believe are Cobra brakes, so there's a decent amount of Ford love going into this project. Currently, it is running on a basemap and dyno'd around 380 and ran a mid 11 1/4 in VA, so Texas is a different story.

When this project is considered "complete", which will take a few years, the number wanted at the wheels is 1,000, only for the bragging rights, really. Considering it weighs 2,300lbs without a driver in it, we're thinking the 500-600hp it'll be pushing out will be quite enough to lift the front end. We'll just have to wait and see!

Thats pretty cool. There was an article in one of the car mags not too long ago talking about a company in LA who was importing skylines to the US. It was a long article but it was pretty damn interesting on how the business turned shitty and people were illegally getting skylines. On another note, there was a guy around my area who had an old datsun like this but with a blown LSx in it. It was crazy.

Here his vids..

There are only about 11 240Z rb26 swaps in the country. Its an incredibly difficult swap since just about everything has to be custom fit or made. Even the oil pan is custom. As for the Skyline company, it was called MotoRex, which is ironic because this motor came from one of their Skylines. The owner of the Skyline was rear-ended by a F150 going 45 while he was at a dead stop, so to make a long story short that was the only contributing factor to transplanting the motor.

Just thought you guys would like to see something different. =) As things happen i'll update.

20 years ago I had bought a 260z with a 6-71 roots blown 350 in it. Thing was totally not drivable. Pulled the front wheels off the ground at any provocation and blew up rear ends like it was a spectator sport. Traded it for a broken down 64 Dodge Dart GT that I had to reach through the floorboards to shift. Eventually put a built 360 in the dart and sold it to buy a 67 Bonneville 4 door and a couple tanks of gas.

We've got a car collector in town that's got a fully restored 240z...All original parts, and probably looks better now than it did when it came off the factory line.

My friend had a GLC with rotary. He regrets selling it.
