Default Lambo Door Install Progress *56K Warning*

This is what we basically accomplished today. I still have to do adjustments on the doors by pushing them back towards the end of the car that way they can clear the fenders when open. Here are some action shots. The person you see if my father who helped me crimp the wires together.

It'll be completed tomorrow and you guys will see more pictures then.

Looks sick Smitty, what did that set you back? Did you have to do a lot of extra work to get it all to fit right?

Nice, can't wait to see the finished product.

It only set me back 700. I got in on a group purchase from Dayton Imports from Dayton Ohio. They specialize in lambo doors for ALL makes and models.

Let us know how well they seal. Wash you car see if any water gets in or if you hear wind noise. What type of tape did you use as the electric tape that is available everywhere is not good as with the heat the glue will start melting off.

Pay attention to the metal bar where your door hooks and locks into. Since your doors will never be level again, it will eat it apart and youll probably have to replace the locking mechanism shortly as well. Ive never been a fan of lambo doors because ive seethen them on a lot of vehicles and none of them were ever done...well they were done nice, but they never closed like they fit the vehicle. Even with the "vehicle specific" kits. Very bad choice to do to your vehicle in my opinion...

i wouldnt do it either for the same reason. the only car i ever seen in persont that fits perfectly are, well, lamborghinis.at first it looks good. then you start to look it over, and see imperfections, and then it wears in more, and wind tunnels through the car, it whistles, you get leaks. hopefuly you did a perfect job and got a really nice kit. let us know how it turns out. and get some outdoor pics

Very bad choice for my car huh?

Well, we just finished adjusting my driver side. It actually shuts like factory. No banging. Had a lot of adjusting to do, but we got it perfect.

Hahaha, I don't use my door panels for anything except pressing the locking button, window buttons, and opening the door and occasionally rolling the window down and rest my arm outside the window on the door

It's finished. Ran into a ton of problems that I definately did not expect. My shocks (unless they wear out soon, it's going to be a pain in the ass to open and close my driver side door). However, my passenger side door, as strong as I am I can't sit down in the seat and pull the door down. I have to be outside the car and push down on it. I think there is something wrong with the shock.

With that said, because the shock is so resistant compressing back together (lowering the door) it broke a bolt that the shaft of the shock sits on. So I had to run to Home Depot, find a stronger bolt, drill the existing broken threaded part of the bolt out of the hinge, and replace the bolt in the hinge.

I'll be contacting the supplier for my kit and getting the info on the shocks. Why they are so difficult to compress and decompress (open and close).

Parts of my front fenders don't stick out far enough so the front of the door sticks out slightly further. Nothing washers can't fix tomorrow morning though. Other than that the door opens out far enough, then able to lift it up. It's a killer look.

Now I'm on the hunt for something automatic. I wonder what type of actuator (hope I'm using the right word) system I would need to use to have it work with the press of a button (go up and go down).

That sucks, reminds me of my days with my 85 SVO I had to fabricate so many things on that car but 20lbs of boost with a blow off valve sure made up for it :spam4:

Only thing that makes me mad about it is the shocks. It's so damn hard to pull up or push down. Other peoples kits I've messed with, they go up and down with basically NO EFFORT. Is it because my shocks are brand new and require a break in period? Or maybe the shocks are too strong? I don't know.

Just went to the garage and opened my doors for a quick photo. My car is FILTHY, you can't really see it but HOLY cow. If I was to EVER rob a car, I would never rob a black one without gloves on. You can see finger prints everywhere!!!
