Looks good.

When you say the clay bar made it "look" better what did you mean? I'm hoping you mean it just pulled out any little particles that washings can not always get out.

thanks, yeah i mean the paint just looks pure and fresh again, and like you said, removing all the stuff washing can't get out. Just by looking at the what the clay had stuck in it, i know it works well.

Looks great as always man! :breakdancesmilie:

I just went out and got the Mothers Claybar kit, hopefully I can get it done sometime in the next couple of days.

Was it a P.I.T.A? Did you go over your whole car, or just the metal? Any tips?!

If you have never clayed your car, it is the most underestimated step in auto detailing imo.

There are many good kits, Mothers, Megs, and Clay Magic to name a few.
If you have a ckay bar, but no clay lube, a QD will work just as good.

In order to clay your car, just spray the lube or QD on the service and rub the clay back and forth. If you feel the clay start to grab or stick to the paint, spray some more lube. You should "feel" the clay work, meaning you will feel it pick up contaminants in the paint and then start feeling smooth.

The best way to do this is do one panel at a time. Have a few nice MF cloths (or a large MF drying towel if you have one) and then simply wipe or dry off the clay lube/QD.

After all said and done your vehicle will feel buttery smooth. Claying will pick up any of those dirt marks that washing can't get out. Also, it will pick up paint overspray, bugs on font bumper, tar, etc. It can be used on glass and chrome (if fine clay) as well.

Sorry guys, I had to put some good info on here. From my sig, I'm starting a major venture this year in my own mobile detailing company.

I thought it was going to be a PITA but when you see the difference it makes, it is totaly worth it. It actually isnt' too bad, easier then waxing by far. As for tips, just follow what whitethunder said.

A few extra clay bar tips.....

Wash the car really good first....I wash mine twice just to be sure it is clean. You want to remove oxidation, and not scratch the surface with dirt and rocks.

Always run the bar length-wise.

Be liberal with lube. I use dish-soap if I don't have lube which pulls the wax off and leave a spot-free rinse.

I then follow with a pain cleaner, sealant, and wax.

Realize that claying wont get out swirl marks and scratches. It only gets out SOME paint transfer and the other things that thunder mentioned.

You can tell how good the paint condition is in by taking a picture of the paint while in direct sun light. Whats when you can see the swirl marks.

Its better to use a QDer or clay lube with the clay rather then a soap because the soap will tend to dry out the clay.

Takes grease and bugs off too. You can also use it on your windows!

Codiddy 03-13-2007 02:36 PM

you can use it on rims too if its a relatively fine clay.

03gtmustang 03-13-2007 02:40 PM

Yep, you can use it on pretty much anything.
