UPS just dropped these off

UPS just dropped off my Baer 13" front rotors and rear upgrade kit. I got 03 mach 1 calipers and stainless brake lines to go with the rotors. I ordered directly through Baer, and I will say that there customer service and response time is awesome! I'll upload some pics as soon as they are installed which will most likely be tomorrow or thursday night. You can see my tiny rear brakes that are on the car now in my sig. Should be night and day difference, looks and performance wise.

Alright guys, everything is installed and let me tell you, that was not a fun project. everything that could've went wrong did. I will try and keep this story short. So first, I started on the rear brakes. First mishap was the caliper bolts were seized up and broke off, so I installed new caliper slider and bolt set. Then I installed the baer caliper bracket extender and put the rotor and caliper on. Then I had to readjust the bracket so the rotor didn't rub. Being that the caliper has been moved up and out, the parking brake line is tight, so, I took a bracket off holding the line to give me some slack. Ok, everythings good except my tires now rub the brake line. I rerun the brake line. Put my 17x10.5 rims on (which i purchased from mustangtuning.com) and the caliper rubs. I know this brake kit was made to fit 17" wheels. Too make a long story short and readjusted everything possible and the caliper still rubbed the inside of the rim. Before I blamed the brakes I put my factory 17's back on to make sure it wasn't my rims, and the factory wheels cleared the caliper by about 1.5 inches if not more. Crap, its the rims. So, I either gotta take the brakes off, roll my factories with the brakes on, or upgrade to 18's which i had in january and recently went down to 17's. Well, I know a guy with 18x10, 18x9 black bullitts, never been curbed, and need new tires on the back and he isn't want to spend any money right now. So I call him up and we swapped my 17's with tires even for his 18's with tires. I don't mind the back tires needing to be replaced b/c he has a 265/35/18 on an 18x10 and that is wrong size anyway, so it will get replaced either way. So, now I'm back to 18's. The front went smooth, except stangsuspension.com sent me the wrong stainless brake lines, even after I talk live with their tech help to make sure I got the right ones for my setup, so I'm still using the factory brake line for now on the front until i can get the right ones. Anyway, on to the pics.

The rear kit tells you they MAY not work with DD wheels. And will not work with 17"DD. The bajo bolt was about .10" from my stock 17" and I thought I'd have to grind it, with the 18"s I have plenty of room. I remember the Parking cable being a PITA to reinstall, I pulled about 2" of housing out of each side and now I only have to lift my handle about two clicks and it's done. Your car Looks great.

yellowstang99 06-22-2006 08:26 PM

Thanks for all the comments.

dfroster: My hand brake is the same way, 2 clicks is all it needs. I'm getting a small noise from the back, sounds like a ticking, so I'm going to investigate that a little more when I get some energy. It almost sounds like plastic rubbing plastic, but nothing is rubbing that I can see. Honestly, it sounds like when you put a card in bicycle spokes and ride really fast. Its not real loud, but I can still faintly hear it.

Madmatt: I agree, 18's are much much nicer
