1st wax of the season and 1st Clay EVER!

It was BEAUTIFUL this past Friday so I took the oppurtunity to clean my stang. She looked gorgeous!!! But unfortunately that is not the case now cause it is rainy and dreary out at least I got a few good shots out of it though

Does clay bar help reduce swirl marks?

I bought myself a clay bar kit a few days ago, gonna use it right before some heavy waxing/buffing.

No, clay bar reduces surface contaminants. Does nothing for swirls. HOWEVER, claying a cars surface is the first step in detailing it correctly and obtaining SHOW CAR QUALITY results.

heh I got my car professionally waxed and cleaned for over spray from contruction last year, and the clay bar they uses DIDN'T ****!, I still got overspray esspecially on my Mirrors, I just gave up... my car has so many nicks and kinks...

Yea, my car is actually in surprisingly good shape as far as paint/swirls for being an 01 with 50K miles.

Once I get my ground effects re-painted and fixed up, I'm gonna do some detailing.
1. clay bar
2. Meguiars #83 with foam bonnet
3. Meguiars #80 with same kind of foam bonnet just a fresh one
4. Meguiars NXT wax with MF bonnet

Only problem I'm having is finding a cutting bonnet for the #83, I have the Craftsman 10" Orbital buffer, works well, just uses bonnets and not pads.

Try the #80 first before the #83. It may be too agressive for what you are using. Also, I wouldn't use a cutting pad (bonnet) with the #83

I knew it was ok to use the #80 first, but what if it ISNT aggressive enough?
Then I would have to use #83 and then #80 again, isnt that a lot of wax buildup in a short amount of time?

Would two coats or #80 be fine to do if needed? Followed by wax?

And would a regular foam bonnet be fine to use with #80? or #83?

Yeah I am planning on it just waiting to get some $$$$$ to come in LOL But taillight tint is on the way.. already ordered. Then GT Scoop, grille delete, and chin spoiler are next. THEN my fr500's black with the chrome lip.
