Default Michigan hires coach

mich has hired rich rodriguez from west virginia, being a U of M fan i love it. I just wanted a coach that ran a spread offense, that was the only thing i cared about. I hope he can sway terrell pryor over to the wolverines with him.

looks like a big mistake to me. Rodriguez can't win in games where it counts, i doubt he'll be able to do it at Michigan.

if your talking about the pitt game, i dont feel that was his fault with white going down very early in that game.....

i dont know much about him, his record looks good, and it was just a time for a change at michigan so im happy. I just thought it was time for carr to get out of the game and for michigan to update their schemes which looks like its going to happen with rich.

Is he coaching in their (WV) bowl game? If he is, we'll see how he does against us!

I read somewhere he would like to... I'm guessing it depends on how Michigan feels about it. As far as I'm concerned, it's only 2 more weeks @ WVU. It's not like Michigan can't recruit based off their name anyways.

Michigan vs. Florida should be a good game.

I think Florida will probably roll Michigan, but that's just my opinion. It's kind of frustrating to see coaches leave or announce they are going somewhere else right before a bowl game.

i dont think the NCAA should allow hirings and firings before the end of the season. if your team doesnt make a bowl game, then after your season is over you can fire your coach and hire any coach from any team that is not in a bowl game, but that team can not hire a coach from a team that is in a bowl game. Teams that are in Bowl Games can not fire or hire a coach until after the bowl game. and coaches who are on teams that are in a bowl game can't resign to take a coaching job at another school until after the bowl game is done. NFL teams shouldn't be able to take coaches from college ranks until after the season or a bowl game is complete. And college coaches shouldn't be allowed to jump ship and go to the pro's until after the season is over.

Maybe they could just make the week after the Super Bowl, to the beginning of March the time that College and Pro Teams can hire coaches. It would be like free agency signings...you have a certain amount of time.

they are forced to leave then due to recruiting. If they did it the week after the superbowl you would have absolutely nobody to recruit. They have to get to their new job before january or they will miss out on any kind of competitive recruiting

maybe the NCAA should look at changing the recruiting deadlines. seems like it's not fair to the team that is in a bowl game, and then loses their head coach because he goes to another school.

ya it does kinda suck for team who loses coach, but i think it would be a bigger headache for more ppl if they switched around all the deadlines. Right now it just affects a few teams, if they change it, it will affect every recruit in the country

You can't change the recruiting deadlines. They need to get the players ASAP so they can become familiar with the system they're playing in. Yeah it sucks when coaches do this, but that's why recruits should look for schools, and not play for specific coaches.

except terrell pryor, he needs to follow rich rod to mich. Then pryor and mcguffie> white and slaton = michigan back to the top

It'll be interesting to see what happens at UofM. I feel kind of bad for Ryan Mallet... he was a good high school QB, who will definitely be thrown under the bus if they switch to the spread O. I'm thinking he'll transfer if RR changes the offense. Brett, do you get a lot **** for being a Michigan fan living in Ohio?

yes, originally im from livonia. And Ryan mallet can run the spread offense. In highschool he ran the shotgun spread. So if rich rod stays with a shotgun spread he will be fine. But if rich rod implements a flex spread or option spread he might as well transfer.

I went to school across town from Ryan in high school and meet him a couple of times, that dude will be successful no matter what. I don't believe he will transfer, there is a reason he wanted to go to UofM all the way from here in Texas and he is dedicated.

well it looks like Texas might supply michigan with another one of their top rated qb's/players for the 2009 class

Russel Sheppard - “I would say Texas is still up there, but Michigan is really at the top of my list, especially if they don’t get (2008 top recruit) Terrelle Pryor,” he said. “I feel like I could go there and play right away. I’m also looking at Florida and LSU. Both of those schools have pretty good depth-chart situations for me.”

Thanks guys lol, even tho id rather just get pryor so we don't have to wait a year for a spread system qb
