A limey with a new Mustang

Hi everyone,

I came across this site after buying a brand new 5 speed Mustang GT CS...wow, what a great site, you guys know your stuff!

OK, I'm British but I live in the US now. Up until now I drove small, zippy, hatchbacks. You know the type...4cyl, turbo, decent HP at about 1,234,567 RPM but not much else. So anyway, my wife & I visit the dealership to do the sensible thing for any young couple planning to start a family, and that's buy a boring, sensible SUV. Except...i caught site of the mustang, test drove it, and that's all she wrote.

I mean OH MY F****ng GOD! ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!?! THIS THING IS AMAZING!...help me, please, I'm completely obsessed. I swear, I go to bed at night dreaming about my car. I find myself volunteering to go to the store to buy random, unwanted items just so I can drive. I "forget" things at work so I can turn around and drive some more. I pray for the light to go red, just so I can go through the gears an extra time. Helllooooo! I can't believe the torque these things have...it just keeps on going! [pant, pant...breathe, boy, breathe]

OK, so pix below, sorry about the bad quality. No mods yet, but I have some in mind...i'll post that in another thread, and hopefully you guys can see me straight on a few questions I have.

Cheers!

welcome to the site

welcome! It sounds like you've been bitten by the mustang bug. Now if you really want to wake your car up and not only have dreams, but wet dreams save up and get a cold air and hand held tuner package!

Enjoy :D

I thought the GT-CS was a convertible only.

no they make them in hard tops, they had a black coupe at the dealership i was working at this summer.

Oh really. I thought "California Special" would relate to the fact that its a convertible.

nice stang. Enjoy it :D

two things to look at first:

big brake kit
twin screw supercharger.

If you can afford those that's pretty much all you'll ever want out of it. Welcome to the land of relatively cheap gas and sick brute power.

The CS I think means Carroll Shelby does it not?

BTW, the original post is funny as hell. Glad you enjoy the car. I highly recomend that you do NOT install a super charger as of yet for fear of having a heart attack. Quite frankly, when you add 150 hp to that thing you will realize how slow it really is - LOL

Thanks guys, 'preciate the welcome.

CS is definitely "California Special"....seems a bit much to me to have a separate name for what is essentially just a specific trim configuration, but oh well...I *do* like the appearance though.

Definitely not going for the supercharger...i'm a bit um... "financially embarrassed" let's say ;)

See you on the forums.

Richard

Welcome to the board and thats a very nice ride. I love the color black on the 05+ stangs, some of the sickest rides I've seen were black. As for your newly acquired disease, there is no cure. Beware the wife mod as well, sometimes they just don't understand, hopefully yours will.

And before you go power crazy with mods, drive it for a while and get used to how it handles, there's a huge difference with rwd solid axle V8s and fwd 4 bangers, as evidenced in you original post. Figure out what you want out of the car by researching threads and what others have done before. Congradulations on an exceptional ride and welcome again to the car !!!!!

I know the feeling. That is something you may get over once you start taking the car to shows and cruises - lol
