How much are you looking to get for the XCal 2 and is it unlocked?

As far as the unlocked, I posted a question about this in the lounge. I'm note sure how I can go about doing this. One of my tunes is %100 stock but has bank1/2 turned off so my CEL won't come on. I hope I can keep this tune in my car, and then delete all the existing tunes off the XCal2, and sell it virtually new. I'll keep you up to date. |

if you return your car to stock then its unlocked. If you dont its "locked" to your vehical. Its how they keep people from using one tuner on 100 different cars.

Right, so you wouldnt be able to keep the tune on the car and just delete the tunes off the xcal, itll be locked to your car. Then who ever buys it will have to send it in to be unlocked.

Any alternatives to keeping my CEL light off when I "return to stock"?
I don't want to have it on, especially since I'm selling the car. I have full SLP set up with catted x. The computer always reads bank 1/2 errors. My tuner always told me it's because the cats are basically "too" high flow and also because the pre-liminary cats have been deleted with my LT's. |

If your selling your car perhaps me and you can work out a deal.
Im intrested in your XCal, right now I have a chip in my car specially to turn off the MIL light cause I have no converters. If I give you the chip what kinda price would you be asking for the XCal ?? |

I bought a used tuner and the guy still kept his performance tune on his car. He had it on a Thunderbird so I didn't want his tune anyway. I did have to return it to a dealer to be unlocked, updated, and retuned for my mustang, but really, do you want to run someone elses tune for a different ECU anyway?
I'd say try it and the worst that you'd be out is shipping both ways to unlock the tuner if it didn't work. |

Is there anyway that the performance shop who did my tune, could unlock the XCal2 after I installed the tune I want in my car? I was this guys first dyno tune and stop by every now and then. If it's possible, he wouldn't have a problem doing it.

I doubt it. Once you put the tune on your computer its is locked to that VIN unless you remove the tune.

a dealer can unlock it but it costs a good bit of cash to make them do it. Unload the tune sell it or keep and it and dont sell it. Its not worth crap if its locked. I wouldnt give you more then 100bucks shipped if it was locked.

Then I need to find a relatively cheap, but effective way to make sure I don't get a CEL when I "return to stock." Any thoughts?

Does the chip just slide into the ECU under the driver dash? |

BBK has some too. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. It can be a mit or miss kinda thing. But they work more often then not.

Is that just for BBK? Do the Steeda's work better? They are more expensive.
