Kenne Bell Supercharger?
Was wondering if anyone has used the 1.7 Kenne Bell supercharge for their Mustang GT 4.6 2V?? I have an automatic so is it worth getting this supercharger? Will I have to beef up my Trans/Driveshaft???? Any comments would be welcome! Thanks,

If you can afford it, do it!

Perhaps the most, or at least one of the most, pertinent "comments" to be made. :shifty: |
Plan on about 6 grand for it.

KB blowers are killer. Makes big power on less boost than an eaton roots and makes power sooner than centrifugal types or turbos.
I'd build the motor if you can afford it, otherwise jump on the opportunity you have for a KB blower. 6 grand is a little low for an installed cost but not too far off... I'd probably budget 8K. |
as far as your tranny it will hold you over long enough to save up for another one. strap that thing on and get ready to suprise C5 vettes.

Do it! You won't regret it.

It is a fairly simple bolt on but I'd still have somone else do it, because I'm lazy and well paid.
besides, considering the N3wb factor here, I don't want much of anyone here installing their own crud. they can barely spell, how can you expect them to do something difficult correctly the first time when they still use the term "alot" to mean "a lot". :poke: |

While I love manuals, particularly close ratio 6 and 7 speed manuals, I have a good bit of respect for the actual power handling of the stock ford autos. the 70w is a good strong tranny that puts up with massive abuse before it gives up the ghost. If you do brake stands all day, you'll bust it. Just don't do that. manuals you need to be more careful about since there's a direct mechanical connection between the crank and the output shaft. Auto's have a torque converter which helps to dissipate the shock loading of the rest of the tranny and zillions of clutches and bands to provide the slip when you need it so you can slip the trans instead of snapping a main shaft. <flame suit on> |
If you go to the KB site they are selling the 1.7 Charger for $3900.00 is this the wrong price?? How much do you think they would charge to put it on? over 2,000???? If so I better start reading up on how to install this thing myself!!!!!!!! :wallbash:

I don't think you can even get a KB kit from them unless you are an authorized dealer. They have a warranty on all their parts so in order to make sure everything is installed correctly from the get go, they limit the accessibility to the kits. Plan on 8K for everything installed unless they really are selling them for 3999 instead of the 4899 I paid for my kit.
|
I think the 3,999 kit is the 6 psi non intercooled. the intercooled version is 4899 or something. With the big tube air kit and all that crap its another 800 or so, plan on 6000K + if you go all out.

I just installed my B&M super cooler yesterday:)

get the kit. go to modularpowerhouse.com. I think they'll do everything for $6,500 (install and tune). Your trans should be fine.

One thing I love about the Kenne Bell is it takes the place of that crappy plastic intake, thats a big plus in my book, looking for it to be installed on my 96GT this fall

If you have the extra cash, get the Bit Boost kit & Switch chip. It's nice knowing that I can crank back the timing and save a bit of fuel when I'm on a long highway trip.
