Default ER... What went wrong.

I have a 05 GT 5spd... just had Newberry coffin axle back exhuast installed, Ford Racing shorty headers, a Magnaflow X w/o cats & last but not lease a K&N air intake.

My car sounds like a humming factory with no rumble. All the sound comes from the back end change of mufflers. No apparent difference in the shorty headers. Should I have done longtubes ? What is going to give me sound from the engine rather than exhaust ?

Something ain't right...

Short tube headers don't really do much for you....maybe 10rwhp and a lot of work and $$$ installing them......I think when ford designed the exhaust for the 05+ stangs they put the mufflers in the rear so the sound would come out of the back... not the cabin so you can't hear the person sitting next to you....The 99-04 stangs have the mufflers pretty much right under the driver and passenger seats.

What is going to give you sound from the engine....cams I guess. I wouldn't worry about it, when you got your foot in the gas people aren't going to worry about if the sound is coming from the engine or exhaust. I'm not sure if they make Loud Mouth's for the 05+ stangs, but if they do it would for sure make it louder.

magnaflows would definatly make it louder but yea like other people said...shorty's dont really do much for the money and time spend putting them on

but the 05+ stangs have axle-back exhaust...just like others said its probably like that so you can have a quiter interior

and how do u not have engine noise? its a v8...i have a nice engine tone in my sixer

I was hoping for a rumble sound rather than a ricer hum sound which is what I seemed to get.
yeh...

uh... the 65/66's were carburated...

theres a HUGE difference
