Hey guys,
I am in a big dilemma and I am only a week away from ordering my full exhaust. I am going with the BBK LT Headers and I want to go with the SLP short X-pipe w/ cats + SLP LM1's. The problem is I have been getting controversial responses on whether the BBK LT's will fit properly with the SLP Modular X-pipe? Does anyone here know FOR SURE? Does anyone have this setup? I need to know positively, because the BBK headers are a different design than the SLP Headers, but I need to know if they will match up correctly in length? Thanks, Mike |

The x pipe will need to be modified. The slp shorty x pipe is made to fit slp headers only. It can be made to work, but will need to be modified.

BBK headers fit like junk and youll be in there bending to get everything to fit right.
You are better off going with an all SLP setup. Ive got bbk shorties with an slp xpipe and it was terrible alligning that up. |

I cant go with the SLP Headers because I have a vert and they don't support verts. And I have heard the BBK LT's fit perfect, and I know they are already pre-bent.
4.6 Love: Now when you say the X would need to be modified what are we talking about here... Cupplings to accomidate for the length.. Will I need to weld something, cutting.. What would need to be done exactly? |

Vert headers are No different from coupe headers what are you talking about? ..as far as modifying it, i can't really tell you what exactly would need to be done to make it work. Any muffler shop that knows what they are doing will make it work. I have hookers and the only mid pipe hookers says will work with the headers is a hooker x pipe, my buddy has a mac o/r H pipe on his hooker headers. I also know of a few guys running an h pipe with slp headers..

No, I know for a fact because even SLP told me their headers will not fit convertibles. They are not bent correctly and will interfere with the K-member or something down there along those lines. They specifically told me they will not work with convertibles.
But anyway.. You don't really know what will need to be done? I would like to give my mechanic a heads up if I do go with this setup, so he can have the parts ready, etc. I am tight w/ the money on the installation and I don't need him telling me he needs to make it fit so it will cost me 2 more hours. Any ideas? |

SLP is full of ****. The verts are no different that a coupe in any form or fashion. I know, because i own a vert. The only thing i know would make a different would be having an auto and a 5-speed. The only thing different between a coupe and a vert is a small shield protecting the oil pan on verts which coupes don't. And the springs are a bit stiffer to compensate for the added weight of the verts. K-member,a-arms and everything else is the same..the only thing you might need to do is bend the driver side heade a few centimeters to clear the k-member but other that that it will be fine. I have an aftermarket k-member which will solve many of the issues of stock components..
Edit: I just checked out their site, and hell even they tell you "MIGHT" need to mofidy what i told, but i doubt you will...so..

LoL, yea I just saw that now too. But you said your have an aftermarket K-member, which is probably what I would have to do. Because my mechanic said you don't want to start messing with the K-member.
And plus even if I was to spend the money on the SLP Headers, I sure as hell wouldn't need to spend anymore. Thats part of the reason why I don't want to go with the SLP Headers because they are so overpriced, although I would like to get them. But for minimal if no performance gains, its not worth it. That sucks that there isnt a complete set standard for the parts... I can't believe I would have to modify parts based on the brand =( I really need to find out what would need to be modified though.. I can't go into this not knowing. I have ZERO room for error =( |

Im looking at the pictures of the BBK LT's and the SLP X...
The headers have to reach the bottom where the x-pipe would connect, therefore the only thing I can see being the problem is that the SLP X-pipe would not reach the Headers in length, therefore requiring cupplings or short pieces of pipe to accomidate for the missing length.. Is that how you guys see it? That should be it right? |

Any reason why you HAVE to have an SLP x? VRS makes catted X pipes, great quality, and they fit right up to a set of BBKs.

I personally have the SLP LT's. I'm super pleased with them, so If there is anyway you can get them I would go for it for I've heard problems with BBK also. When I had mine installed they lifted the motor just a little and didnt touch the K-member |

I forgot about VRS actually, that might be a good idea... They fit the BBK LT Headers?
And I dont want the BBK X, because I hate the chamber and it doesn't come with hi-flow cats does it?, and blah blah I just dont like it at all. And I wanted the SLP X, because its modular. I think LT's + LM1's will be far loud enough, but I wanted the race pipes just incase, I have ZERO room for error, because its a lot of money and I am SOOO disappointed with the stupid magnaflows I have now. I know I want LOUD, so I wanted to leave my options open, but Im thinking the catted x-pipe will be far loud enough with my setup. What you guys think? Edit: Just looked at the VRS x-pipe with the cats.. $359 even SLP is cheaper than that, damn. |

BBK LT's will not work with SLP Shorty X Pipe...
Why?? BBK uses a flanged end. SLP does not. SLP uses a connection with a band clamp. BTW SLP headers arent overpriced. On the contarary they are very well priced for a full Stainless steel, ceramic coated, LT header setup. BBK's will look like **** after a while.

Ok Lets just say for instance I went with the SLP Headers...
They do NOT fit convertibles without K-member work... But, Does anyone know what I would have to do to the K-member to get the SLP Headers to fit correctly? I need details... |

They do make a SLP LT header that are still stainless steal but NOT ceramic coated I remember seeing these when looking around for mine. They were about 100 bux less than the ceramic coated.
