Anyone intrested in 5.4L swaps, in here. Need you to opine.
My apologies but I've been off this thread for a while. Is the reason you modified the hood is for a blower, or other reason ... ??? THANKS !!! :~))
everybody watch out for lethal performance. I got a boost overlay for my car and its smaller than a business card and weighs nothing. It came in a 5" cubed box with instructions, weighing less than half a pound total. Shipping cost $17................yes that's right!!
I just bought 2 valve TFS track heat heads from lethal performance and shipping was 25 bucks. Sorry man. I phoned in my order and asked them to match Summits shipping price. They were close but still 13 bucks more. They still havent charged my card and I placed the order yesterday, hmm.
I'm going to have to do the same when I order some fuel supply components. Not paying their stupid shipping prices that are quoted online.

small update: ive got a t56 with the 26 spline input shaft, mgw short throw shifter, spec stage 3+ clutch with only 500 miles on it, aluminum driveshaft, trans wire harness, crossmember and everything. itll be here tuesday, ill try and post some pictures then
okay guys i finally got it all done.
here it is bolted to the motor
the nice aluminum drive shaft with the rear yoke i guess its called from the original drive shaft
the whole thing done and buttoned up. made some crossmember brackets and welded them in myself. i must say the floor pans are a bit thin for flux core wire feed welding but it all works.. just need to redo the exhaust, the cat is hitting the crossmember and not allowing a proper mating to the manifolds or the 3rd section of the exhaust. but thatll be another day.
also... i put the bigger cobra clutch in it and had to remove the 3 pins that the factory gt clutches slide onto and hold in place when you bolt them up... and i had to drive them out from the motor side. figured i would have to use a breaker bar to rotate the motor over to get them in a spot that i could drive them out but no.. i have almost no compression. i was able to turn the motor by hand at the flywheel and couldnt feel a single TDC.

Been reading this post for a LONG TIME and I'm no where near done with it. I found quite a few 5.4s at the local junk yard for only $250. Does anybody know what size the flexplate bolts are on Expeditions, does the bolt size change between 2wd and 4wd, and are the bolts twelve point? Would definitely suck to do all the work to get the motor out and not be able to separate the trans. They have plenty of 4.6 Thunderbirds and Crown Vics to scavenge parts off of so any suggestions of misc. parts I should get extra of would be appreciated. Thanks for the awesome thread.
BTW this is going in a 02 Gt manual.

womacktrio: don't trip on the bolt sizes. They're standard across all the modular engines. You'll need flywheel bolts and an 8-bolt 11" flywheel anyway.
You might consider converting to a 10.5" clutch. It's easier and cheaper to find hot rod parts in that size and all you have to do to convert is use a 10.5" flywheel/clutch disc/pressure plate. They bolt right up.

Runs and drives, its still in the car I could drive cross country in it tomorrow. I can upload videos anything, no knock no ticking nothing wrong. I want to go to a 5.4 4v or a 4.6 4v with a turbo or eaton swap.
I bought a 2000 lightning so not really interested in two 2v 5.4s. Kind of boring.

I know I havent been here in a long time but just giving some updates. I got rid of the Tork Tech 5.4 kit and went turbo. I had sold my HPS Hardball'r intake to a member here and needed an intake bad. I have been on the waiting list for the next batch of Hardball'r intakes for over 8 months so I decided I needed to contact a good friend.
Steven@Vap Auto designed me a plate that uses the stock 01+ Lightning lower and a 99/01 Cobra 03/04 Mach 1 upper. Reason why I wanted that upper intake is because I can go single blade no problem. Dual throttle body is much much better than the 70mm I had on the HPS. To top it off, it clears the stock hood as well .
Really great designed, all CNC cut, the whole shibang. He hooked me up bigtime since I'm the first to get it but he asked if anyone is interested to contact him and he'll get you squared away.
