Long Tube Vs. Short Tube Headers
i am thinking about putting a new exhaust on my car and was wondering what the pros and cons are of each and you guys suggest for my car and more than likely going with SLP unless someone has a better idea i have the stock headers bassani X-pipe and flows now but want more noise:punk:
|
just go w/ the x/h pipe and a cat back...once u get more air thru the engine is when u get new headers
|
If you are doing the exhaust, do it right the first time. Take it from me, the guy who did the midpipe and mufflers, and is now going back and doing full exhaust, from the headers back, and had to buy a new midpipe to fit. Dont get shorty headers, they dont really gain anything over stock.
|
I did all my exhaust all at once and it was definately worth it.. and the only other mod I had at the time was the Steeda CAI. I noticed huuuuge gains with the LT's.. definately worth it in my opinion. Some cons of LTs is that they are harder to install or will cost more to get installed, they are more expensive, and they hang lower.. I hardley ever scrape them though and I have Steeda Sport Springs.

thanks guys

SLP do make great longtubes. I've never had scraping issues either... now the resonators are a different story

Agreed, I know its $$$ but if your GOING to do it, then get it ALL at the same time. If you just buy a mid pipe now, then your going to HAVE to buy a new one or have one made for you when you get the LTs.

Holy Crap, talk about dead thread re-vival.

I dont see how you can say you gained 15rwhp from the shorties when you installed a midpipe at the same time. |
I could swear I saw a test done where the bbk shorties produced 7rwhp on a pretty much stock GT. With long tubes you'll probably get 15-20rwhp. Also, long tubes are not emissions legal. So if you have emissions, they are not a good idea.

i owuld love to see a set of just headers add 7rwhp hell if just LT added 15-20 i would of done them. Sadly your looking at maybe 15-20 with full exhuast from long tubes to off road mid pipe and catback. The real question is do you wanna have an awsome time trying to get your tranny out or not?
|
There are LT's that will allow you to drop the tranny, both auto and manual. And with my tubular k member its not a problem to remove the pass. side header and drop the tranny.
|
Well you can't go with SLP headers because you a bassani X, and they won't work together to well...So find some BBK longtubes, put it with that bassani X, and invest in a nasty bassani cat-back, and your car will sound mean as hell...Good Luck
