First three mods for stock 03 GT?

What would you guys suggest for the first three mods to a completely stock 03 Mustang GT? I have heard a K&N Cold Air Kit, An accufab throttle body, and a K&N plenum. Let me know. Thanks

Depending on your budget, you can't go wrong with any of these. Shifter, K&N filter, Gears, Exhaust (mid pipe, catback) . I have not seen a good HP gain on the dyno with the CAI. K&N replacement air filter works just as good for alot less money. unless you want to dress up your engine Then I would stay with the CAI that doesn't have a bend after the MAF. Throtle body and Plenum should be your last mod right before you get a tune. Suspension is a great place to start also. Main thing is plan it out ,so you don't buy parts that may not work or be compatible with your future mods.

The first mod should be a new shifter of some kind, be it Steeda or Pro 5.0. I went with the steeda cause I got a great price on it from here. The next mod should be some new rear end gears like some 3.73's or 4.10's. The third thing should be exhaust like some mufflers and a new midpipe. After these are done, get something for the intake(not a cold air intake as most of those are a huge rip off) and some suspension work like springs or lower control arms.

my car runs real good with the 2 chamber flows an micro tuner must take it to the track an see how fast it will go ?????

I agree with the gear swap (I'd recommened 3.90's or 4.10's).

I would also recommened a good tourque converter if you have an automatic. Boy, you just can't do better than a converter. The time just gets ripped off of the sheet compared to the previous time sheets.

I'm seeing poor reviews of CAI's... but I noticed a good difference when I installed my MAC. But actually, I'd recommend a good TB over that.

Great advice so far!

My picks would be:

1 - Shifter - Tri-Ax!

2 - Rims!!!! (stockers suck...oh wait, this was a power question. But I still say "rims")

3 - A nice catback. Nothing says "I love my car and get the hell outa my way" better than the rumble of an after-market catback. And, depending on the selection, it will add 10 hp.

After that, I would add gears!

Gears first, I went w/373's. Then I got my magnaflow catback. A week later my x pipe. That be the way I went and was happy with it. :)

As I am always short of money for upgrades, I think the first consideration is how much $$ you have to spend. Gears are a good start, but expensive to get done unless you're a good backyard mech. The exhaust is a good place to start also, but again there is a $$ consideration. Fortunately there are alternatives to high end items like bassani and borla. Bottom line... how many dead presidents you got in the bank.

Your first three mods should be gears, shifter, Exhaust! AFter that you could add some Pullies, sticky tire...(nitto DR's) ;) and a Chip and you'll be set! :D

My .02 is about the same as most...Pullies, gears, cat-back....K&N is cheap enough to do now and will never have to be replaced.
Enjoy!

Shifter (I got the Tri-Ax), exhaust, gears. IMO.
