How long did the stock brakes last on your car? My car is coming up on 26,000 miles. In the last 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords magazine they did a write up about the 13" Mach1/Bullitt/Brembo front brake upgrade for $400 from Performance Parts. Here's the same kit http://www.mustangtuning.com/01bull...conversion.html . There GT had 38,000 miles on it. I know it depends on your driving habit, but what is the norm? Is it worth upgrading to these brakes or should i just stay with the stock replacement stuff since my GT is fairly stock? I would only do the front upgrade and keep the back oem. Also, when should calipers be changed? If i decide to stay with stock brakes, do i have to change the calipers? I should be able to get all the stock stuff for all 4 corners, minus the calipers, for like $200 something.

well....my rear brake rotors and pads HAD to be changed out at about 43,000 miles. I got stock replacement rotors and pads.
And now I have about 46,000 miles and I need my front brakes done. Right now I have a pair of Front Brembo Stock replacement rotors and some Hawk ceramic pads waiting to be installed.

You shouldnt have to worry about the calipers. its usually the pads/rotors that need replacement.

when it comes time to do my brakes again...I will be upgrading to the bullitt/cobra brake packages.

i have 40k mine are just fine. It depends on your driving style how long they will last.

Its always a good thing to upgrade your brakes. Consider it insurance against crashing. Your stopping power will increase a TON.

You only really need to replace your fronts though, as they do about 70% of the braking. The rears dont do as much. Plus you are adding a larger caliper for your fronts with two pistons. You really cant go wrong.
