Default What do I need to get at least 300bhp

or whatever WHP to equate to that bhp (dumb guy here--dont hate). right now i have LT, hpipe with cats, catback, chip (93octane), kn air filter (hehe)...

basic bolt ons?

i have a 99gt 5speed. would i get there if I add cam only with what i have on now?

to get you at 300 in the engine you'd probably just need a few more bolt ons.. with SLP LT's, SLP O/R X-pipe, Steeda cat-back, Steeda CAI, Accufab 75mm TB and Plenum, and with an SCT Xcal2 tune I had 270rwhp.. which is probably close to 300 in the engine

you need to be making at least 255rwhp for a 5 speed and 240 for an auto. Those are representative of 15 and 20% driveline losses to 300bhp.

I made 244rwhp with just exhaust and a TB&CAI s 300bhp isn't out of the question with bolt ons. 300rwhp requires a substantial investment with P&P heads and new cams and springs. At that point you're trying to get over 355bhp from a 281cid motor... not the easiest thing to do.

you can do it with full bolt on's and some aggresive cams. Its been done a few times only on stick cars not auto's.

+1. with 258rwhp (with mods in sig minus the xpipe) and assuming 15% drivetrain loss, i was making 304 bhp (at the flywheel). kinda comforting to know that with just some simple mods i was at the level of a stock mach 1 .

You can probably get pretty close with cams......You know, I think I'm going to quit telling people my rwhp and go with flywheel cause it sounds a lot better! ha ha ha......plus when random people ask at the gas station "how much hp do you have" they probably won't understand the difference between RWHP and flywheel anyway.

damn shaggy.. that's nice numbers from a bolt-on car. mooey bwaynoh!

I made 232 bone stock down to the air filter, 244 with a minimum of mods. We did a lot of tune work on my car at one point but the Diablo Revolutions software was new at the time and we couldn't get a tune to return repeatable results. An SCT tune gained me 6rwhp and 4tq so I thought, why bother. nearly 500 bucks for a good dyno tune and chip ... naw, not until the blower and nitrous come on line this spring. We could have gotten much more aggressive on the tune but I beat my car so again, why bother.

P&P heads and some cams may join the blower but we'll see how the finances line up.
