hello everyone im new here and im searching for some knowledge on a 4.6 swap in to my 6. right now i have a slightly modded 1998 v6 mustang. i would rather spend money on a v8 than a supercharger or turbo for the 6..and selling my car to buy a gt or cobra is not an option..i heard my 4r70w will fit up to the SOHC 4.6's but what else do i need for the swap...rear end computer computer wiring harness engine engine harness and mounts misc suspention..is that about right? and if so is there any good how-to articles. im pretty good at working on cars and i will have my neighbor help me and hes a mechanic so labor isnt a problem so if anyone can help that would be great..thanks

the 7.5" rear end will not take much abuse if you are gonna mod it replace it with a 8.8" rear end from a stang to. If i was you i would find a wrecked 99+ stang GT and buy it. use the rear motor and tranny, in your car. then use the ECu and wiring from it and move them over to your car. I hope you have a diferent car for a few days or weeks depending on how much time you spend cause thats gonna take osme time ot get it done right. But again if it was me i would buy a wrecked car and use the parts then sell it back to the boneyard to get rid of what you didnt use.

Well this is my opinion... by the time you get everything that you need to convert your 98 V6 to a 4.6 you might as well just save the money you were going to spend on all that and sell the v6 and get a 99 -2001 GT...for around 9K-13k... My brother Vemon is swapping his 98 4.6 2V to a Corba 4V. that type of swap makes more sense....Now if money is not an issue do it right and get a Mach 1 or Corbra engine....

yea i was thinking about getting a doner car i think thats the best way to go....but do u know of any good write up on how to do it? i woudl rather know than just go at it ya know...i do have the helm published ford shop service manual so that will help alot with things..and as for selling my car i cant, my grandmother bought me my car and i have wanted this body style since it came out in 94 and i was close with her and she recently passed away so it hold alot of sentimental value to me. and i dont mind spending money on the stang...i will have this car for a long time so spending money to swap it isnt a problem..but thanks for all the imput.
