Does anybody know or have a write up on how to install the SLP headers? Is it possible to do this in my garage or should I not waste my time and just get a shop to do it. I am NOT machanicaly challenged if that helps.

Ok Ok... you can do it yourself.. but its not easy... its mostly time consuming... you will have to bend your egr a bit (very hard) take of the starter(easy)... take out the steering column (easy - BUT MARK IT!!!) and then loosen and tighten the header bolts (pretty dang hard) - you dont have to drop the suspension liek the manual says... just jack the motor up a few inches and it will work (takes sum fanagleing) .. if you dont have small hands then dont try it - i had a freind do mine for 200 - too cheap really but you can probaly get individualls to do it for 300 all day long... about 600 at the dealer or performance shop... MAKE SURE U GET LONG TUBE headers!!! - not shorties not equals - LONG TUBES - they make the power... dont listen to any other bullsh!t about it... other people just wish they had them... also - no cats is a must! makes all the differnce - get sum mil eliminators on ebay for 12.00 - also you dont need a new h or x pipe... just smply cut down the factory H and reweld the connecting sections... this will require proper measurement but not too scientific... headers are the best mod for the buck in my opion - you won't be able to get the sh!t eating grin off your face to 2 weeks!

All I can say is PITA. Plan on dropping your K member to be able to get a good snug wrench on all the header bolts. Have fun. Plan on a weekend for it. Shop will charge you at least $600

well me and my dad did it in our small 1 car garage. we tried it without dropping the k-member first and we just weren't able to reach all the bolts and had issues getting the egr valve onto the driver side header, we tried bending it to but it was just too much hassle. when we dropped the k-member it made the install SOOO much easier. i wrote up a product review on this just today, it has a lot of pictures in it if you want to check it out, its over in the product review section

One of my local shops that I trust put my SLP LT's in for me. He's primarily a corvette guy and imports. He wasn't to familiar with the Mustangs but he did mine. He kept my car overnight twice. Total bill was 615 bux. Was it worth it? eh, it's a kick ass sound and some decent power, but I dont know if it was worth it. I paid 950 bux for my catted X-pipe and the ceramic LT's, both SLP. So total was 1500 with labor.

I got mine installed for free while I was workin, one of the techs. does a lot of work on my car. I came and checked on it early in the morning, things seemed to moving along fine so I went back to washin cars.... Then I walk up at lunch and find my chassis and body up in the air with my k member in the stall next to my car, and my engine on a jig. I was a lil caught off guard, but everything came togather well.
Bottom line is there is close to no space around the manifolds in our cars, and when you are adding 4 bigass pipes on each side.. things get difficult.
