Intake Spacer

Alright, I know this may seem pretty pathetic, but I'm a newbie to mustangs and working under the hood. My MT Intake Spacer should be arriving in the next few days, but I have no idea how I'm going to install it. I've googled and searched these forums and found nothing. Can anyone give me a basic run thru?

Also, even though this is a little off topic, I don't think it's worth making a new thread about. I think another good performance mod to start with is some UD pulleys, but the steeda ones here seem expensive considering what they are and what they do. There are some aluminum ones on eBay for cheaper, are there any negatives to getting those?

Thanks everyone.

an intake spacer isnt going to really get you much. You probably wont even notice the difference. You have to take your stock plenum/throttle body off to put the spacer on. Its the metal shiney thingie with the running horsey on it under your hood in the center.

Hopefully soon. I want to get 4.10's cuz I've got an auto. Then I'll have to do something about the speedometer though. Man, modding cars is REALLY expensive. I need a job, Best Buy didn't hire me.

The 4.10's on my car made a huge difference. And after a tune to calibrate the speedo and it also will give you better shift points and firmer shifts. I'll have that intake spacer in the mail first thing in the morning. Before UD go get the gears and a tune then worry about everything else.

About the underdrive pulleys.Don't get piggyback pulleys!Steeda and March make the SFI approved kind and no one else does. The piggyback pulleys require you to mount the old crank pulley to the front of the new crank pulley in order to have a harmonic balancer. Some people will argue that a harmonic balancer isn't necessary but think about it.If it wasn't necessary would Ford use a more expensive to produce part when it could cut costs by using a cheaper balancer? If you're thinking about going with a supercharger later on then you will want to keep the stock units anyway.UDP's won't allow as much boost because of the smaller crank pulley.

Oh, I didn't even see the March ones on here. Their price is much better. One reason I'm so intimidated by gears is the 300-400 dollar install price!

Intake spacers are worthless.

Mine actually did help out a bit...better gas, and a little better acceleration. So its not worthless but I wouldnt buy one for $30 again

I had to start somewhere and I figured I'd start with something small and easy.
