Too early??
 

Do you guys think its too early to buy some sub frame connectors, uper/lower control arms, and a driveshaft now? Or should i wait until i have gained more horsepower? :confused:

I would get the subframes anyway. The upper and lowers cant hurt at all, in fact they will probably increase your traction where it is now, which is never a bad thing. The driveshaft I would wait on unless you are doing some SERIOUS weight reduction now.

you can do whatever mods you want whenever you want there is not real certine steps in modding. like me i added my nitrous kit before i did my driveshaft and control arms then i got a fuel pump and control arms and a shifter. so its all really up to you it doesnt matter.

Ditto! Subframes were one of my first mods I ever did. On a 5 speed vert, subframes would be my second mod after a shifter! But for any car, subframes are always good to have. Subframes are also a best value mod. Cheap to buy, relatively cheap to instal, and bennefits are worth it.

ok thanks guys, looks like i will be buying some sub frames! I understand i could do any mod i wanted but just wanted some direction if you will. Because i was thinking if i didnt need the suspension/traction mods now, i could buy a tb/plenum, and then start looking towards a vortech. But looks like ill go with subframes and tb/plenum first. thanks for the help

Steeda's. They have torque box reinforcements which MM's do not. Sweet car bro! Same as mine, - the chin spoiler.

Ya, i know, but since they discontinued the chin's, they are now going for like $100. Before they were only $65. I don't know if it is worth that money. Maybe if i can find a used one in good condition. :)

subframes are good. I'd get the lower control arms and a panhard bar, then maybe a torque bar and the car will handle sooooooooo much better!

My next performance mod is going to be that panhard bar.

now my opinion on the sub-frame connectors, should be 1 of the first mods to any Mustang. your car will feel much more responsive + the fact I've seen sooo many Mustangs at the track that did not have there frames tied and have twisted the bodys so bad, doors dont close right and they have tons of water leaks because of body twist and I've seen 2 cars over the last few years wth S/C and NO subs blow the windshields out of there cars right on the starting line :eek:

wat is a panhard bar?

Panhard bar only allows very little side movement as the chassis is in motion.Basically prevents any unstable and unpredictable behavior while cornering near your cars limits. But I suppose if you dont do a lot of heavy cornering under speed it's really not nessecary untill you have more power. Any suspension mod is to stiffen the chasis, less movement of the chasis equals greater cornering capabilitiesand less chance of breakage under stress. Sub frames and strut tower brace would probably be the best choices first in my opinion.

Sounds like these sub frames are worth the buy!!! How much is it to install, you think? is the installation hard?

had mine welded-up at a customer/friends shop down here, was $50.00 back in 1996

You always want to get them welded in I dont care what anyone says. Take it to a shop if you have a friend who knows how to weld even better. I wouldnt pay more than $75 for someone to weld them in for you.

I think that you should be able to get them welded in for under $100. Then again i've heard people say that it costs alot of money to have them welded. :confused:

Subframes should be one of the first mods. Its like, shifter, gears, subframes, and it doesnt have to be in that order. Just get them, and yesterday. I have the MM ones, they are great, completely different feeling car after they were welded up. Also, mine were 100 bucks to have installed, some say expensive, I kinda agree, but I trust the guys who did them, so there. They were worth it. Make sure if you get the bare metal sfc's, you paint them with some kind of paint to keep them from rusting. Also, the lower and upper control arms are a great mod for traction purposes, so definately not a bad idea to go ahead and get them. The d/s, well, Ive heard they help with vibration, but I have 3.73's and have never had a vibration problem, so its really just up to you.

Well it looks like i cant buy the sfc now! Cause i dropped my phone in the washer and bought a new one!! :rolleyes:

Well anyway thanks for the tip madmatt!! Subframes sound good, and def the conrtol arms will help too, and if i feel much vibration, i will buy the driveshaft. What about this paint? I will prolly have the mustang shop near me do it, and ask em about the paint stuff!

IMO ppl underestimate driveshafts, alot less rotating mass...i want a carbon one

You only need to get it painted if you get the unpainted or uncoated ones. Steeda offers zinc plated subs which you do not need to paint.
