Mustang Upper Rear Control Arms - M5500a

are these a good choice or should I look at maximum motorsport for upper control arms

mike sweeney 12-17-2004 03:43 PM

Those are the arms Maximum Motorsports recommends. they are the best all around upper control arms, they do not cause axle bind like the other brands do. :D

Yea, get the ford racing ones, that was MM suggests as stated above. They are only like 65 bucks too.

sbrooks 12-18-2004 05:02 AM

how do they improve handling of the car

mike sweeney 12-18-2004 05:34 AM

Yes they will help with wheel hop on launch, and lessen the rear end sloppieness in the corners. The bushings are much stiffer than stock, but not so stiff that they cause excessive bind as the suspension flexes.

are these ok for daily driving?

mike sweeney 12-18-2004 06:35 AM

Yes, I dont have them yet but from what I have researched they have no negative effects to daily driving.

Thanks Mike you convinced me :) . How do you like you gears and tuner? We have some of the same things

You won't notice a difference with these over stock...If your car is relatively new, keep the stockers. I have these and the numbers on the bushings were identical to the FRPP ones, and the design is identical as well. IMHO i think these are the same thing that Ford put on 99+, or at least sometime before 03.

If your car is a little older, then you might notice a little difference because the stock bushing is probably a little worn out.

I really like the gears and tuner. They are the two best mods so far. I raced a co-worker that has a completely stock 03 optioned exactly like mine and when I was stock we were dead even. Now after the tuner and gears I can pull about 10 car lengths in a 1000 ft. I installed the tune about a month before the gears and I could pull him by about 3-4 lengths. Its nice to have sombody with car like mine so I can guage my mods. :D :D

what year is your car and I just got them on ebay for 52

your actually gonna waste your money on those??? sorry but the only difference between those and the stockers is that lil peice of metal welded to the bottom of it.. it don't even go the full length of the control arm.. u'd be better off welding in your own lil piece of metal, and still get the same effect..

Well I guess that I should have waited but they did not cost to much, so I will deal with it thanks for all the help guys. Any thoughts on lower control arms?

04SVTDRIVER 12-20-2004 01:33 AM

Well this may just be one mans opinion but I think if you're going to spend money on suspension you should just go all out and get steeda. But that's just me control arms are always a good mod!! :)

millatime 12-20-2004 06:16 AM

maximum motorsports make good products as well, but if you decide to get them you may as well save yourself some money and get the copies that are sold here...they're black and look identical to the mm ones. They are the same all the way down to the bushings.

madmatt 12-20-2004 10:56 AM

Id get the Maximum motorsports LCA's if it were me. Ive seen the steedas broken at the welds before, so I dont know if Id go with them, whether it was just a faulty arm or not. Just kinda unsettling to think about one breaking down the track...
