Squeaking noise when turning the wheel
Has anyone had this problem. I am hearing a noise when i turn the wheel from side to side. The car is running and at a dead stop when i turn the wheel from left to right i hear a squeaking noise. I am taking the car in to get looked in a week but wanted to get an idea of what the problem may be. The car only has 6k miles on it. Any ideas?

At dead stop only or slow speeds as well?
I had a squeak through my front suspension, turned out the steering rack was loose. Took it in at 13k.... they tightened it up Took it in again at 20k when it came back and they replaced the whole rack. |
i have only heard it when i was at a dead stop

Could it be a ball Joint? My buddies car made the same noise a week before his ball joint sheered in half and droped the front car on the ground. Was not pretty.

it could be a ball joint, but it is probably a tie rod end(they both make the same noise when they go bad), I worked at a ford dealer and saw a lot of those going bad all the time.
|
could be ball joints but more than likely it is the tie rod ends.. i replaced both of mine after they too started to squeak.. cause god knows that mean danger down the road..

Could it be the belt slipping???It takes more effort to move the wheels when stopped than when moving.
|
if it's a whining sound it could be that your low on power steering, which would cause a squeeky whining sound.

I'm going with tie rod end. Thats what mine was.
