Accufab TB/Plenum Combo
 

I just picked up an Accufab 75mm throttle body and plenum set for $250. Pretty happy becuase other than the JLT ram air, it's one of the few 'power' mods I've done to the car. I know they won't add much, more happy about the price I got them at. I've got an open track event coming up in March with the Porsche club at Eagles Canyon Raceway, hopefully this will go a little way to helping me keep up with the 911 Turbos. I kind of would have rather had a 70mm TB but I'll take it.

-Open/Straight exhaust (no mufflers)
What's that good for hp/tq wise? The car has always felt strong but I have no idea.

The end the goal is to rework the engine with some intake, Trick Flow heads, cams, longtube headers, o/r X-pipe. I need to get the car on a dyno sometime.

I gonna say somewhere in the 255-260-ish and about 315 torque at the wheels.

I'd be happy with that. Thoes Porsches don't have any torque so I can keep up with everything except the 911 Turbo models. I've never ran against a GT3 but there will be one in my group at this event. Unless the driver is a numbnut, he should blow me away.

Absolutely no disrespect intended buddy but theres not a hope in fuck of you keeping up with even a N/A 911 (a 97-04 model) on a track never mind a 911 turbo unless the driver is shit or has mechanical problems.
I admire your enthusiasm though and it would be great to shoe your car on against others designed specifically to outhandle other cars but I wouldn`t build your hopes up. If you`re talking about some of the older 911s then fair enough, you`ll be able to trade punches so to speak.
I`ll be doing the 70mm TB and Plenum later this year but 5-10rwhp isn`t going to add much, I`m doing it more for the shinyness.:)

I've done it in the past. I normally run my open track events with the Porsche Club of America and have ran with a lot of Porsches with drivers of similar skill. Granted, put a good driver in anything faster than a Boxster S with race bake pads and good tires, and I would have one hell of a time keeping up. But in my experience, all of the Cayman models I can keep up with, and have a hard time with the Carrera models but I've done it, and the Turbos run away from me no matter who the driver is. I've kept up with an older race prepared Cup car, can't remember if he had race tires.

This is one of my better videos of passing a coupple of Boxster models and a Lotus pretty easy. I know that these people are not race car drivers, neither am I. There was a Silver non Turbo 911 on track with me that weekend who was running similar lap times. I'm not saying I'm the fastest thing on the track either. I've been caught by well sorted Spec Miatas, but also have caught SCCA liscened racers in good cars.

fair play there. I have a buddy with a 1993 968 and on the track its a serious tool for its limited power and age but its getting a bit tired now as he`s being scalped by type R hondaa and RS Focus`s. Just talking from my own viewpoint my GT hasn`t the chassis or suspension upgrades yours has had and wouldn`t like to even try tracking it.

The Diablosport 93 tune (I`m running 99 ron here in the UK which is about 95US) K&N filter, Magnapacks and I`m lining up a Accufab70mm and plenum, Really , in the grand scheme of thing its made fuck all difference to the power.
Its fun wasting money though :D

Depends what way you look at it. I`ve had a few turbo cars and a simple $300 remapp and its a HUGE difference. For $300 on a N/A you`re getting virtually zip.

I don`t mind Bubba. Its a hobby to me and I enjoy the Mustang. Its cool,its different and its mine. I`m going to dyno mine soon, just for curiosities sake. (standing by for a disappointment) :o

I don't think we're understanding what you're saying. Are you saying that the mods you've made have made an improvement to your car or have they been a waste of money?

Oh, I see what you're saying now. spending $300 on a N/A gets you nothing and $300 on a force induction car makes a ton of difference.

We have always talked about that same thing, buy and bolt on a $1000 of parts and get 12 hp. Forced induction is wheres it at.

Spot on Bubba. Not that i`m condemning anyone who buys bolt ons. That would be hypocritical as I buy them myself but like I say, I enjoy the hobby.
I had a Sierra Cosworth that in standard trim was 220hp. £1100 later I had 350hp and a seriously rapid machine.

I put the TB and Plenum on. No idle problems, better throttle response. Haven't done a full throttle run due to finding a pretty big saftey issue with my hood pin brackets. The inside of the stock plenum was covered in oil. I had to go to the store to get some flat steel stock to make some new brackets for the hood pins. The old ones had started to crack in the bend and could have broken at any time and the hood could have flown up.

Added my Accufab Plenum and 70mm throttle body tonight. Went 70mm from reading stuff on here. :smokin:
Took me about 2 hours as I`m no mechanic and wanted to double check everything and make sure I done everything right. Attaching the rubber air pipe from the filter housing to the new TB was a right ba$tard. Tight as ducks arse.
Anyway. I had taken the car out a good run prior and when I was all done, started the car up to check there was no leaks and it idled fine.
Spot on. Slow test drive then a the same run as earlier. I`ve never been a fan of `bolt on` stuff on any N/A cars as they offer very little for the cash in terms of anything really. The Diablosport Predator 93 tune was a crock of shit and I noticed virtually nothing although it did make the auto box shift better but, the K&N made no difference, the cat backs made just noise but...........

I can honestly say, hand on heart that the car now has a much improved throttle response. Before there was that `lag` before it pulled, like a delay of some sort for want of better words. All the stock (ish)modular sn95 4.6s seem to have that notorious lack of `low end urgency` when compared to the 5.0. BUT, they more than make up for it higher up the rev range. I haven`t had it at WOT yet I`ll save that for another day but low down response is definately way better and its a noticeable difference in the way the car feels, so its a result.
Whether its worth the cash is debatable dependant on the individual but I`m happy as I`ve added something to my rare `import`

Oh, and it`s shiny :D

Good honest review. I am happy with mine also. I never expected much from it but I felt a small improvement. Do you get a swish or swoosh sound now when you popen the throttle a bit?

always wondered about adding the TB to the 4.6, have heard mixed reviews saying it didnt do much or not worth the money...

Might be something to consider...
